So, you beautiful readers may have noticed that the "mature" rating is on for this story. Unfortunately, Wattpad does not give me the option of specifying the reasons for this, so I will give you all a heads up before you start reading.
The background for this story is rather straightforward; I was in a creative writing class in college last semester and our main project was a short story. Our stories were peer-critiqued and then instructor-critiqued before we made revisions and submitted them as our final project. I am working on getting some of my writing out into the world and wanted to share this piece with all of the lovely people on this website! Kara was born from my own struggle with social anxiety, though mine was never as severe as hers. I hope that this short story is relatable and that you root for the characters as much as I did while writing it.
Now, here are the warnings for the material that caused me to give this story a mature rating:
Strong Language: There are about three instances or uses of language (one of which is of strong language) towards the end of this short story. If this is something you do not prefer to read, then this may not be the story for you (I'm sorry!).
Brief Violence: The violence is not strong, nor graphic and also occurs near the end of the story. Usually, this wouldn't be cause for a mature rating, but I want to make sure I am being sensitive of everyone.
Non-graphic Attempted Sexual Assault: This, again, is near the end of the story and does NOT describe ANYTHING graphic, but I will place a trigger warning at the beginning of the section and right before the scene to let you all know if you need to prepare.
