It All Started With A Smile

Cloudy Day

Every day is the same feeling...loneliness. No, I honestly do not have any friends, my co-workers do not talk to me unless it's about work and that is about it. Nothing ever changes, everything is the same thing. The more lonely I feel the less motivated I am. Before I had wonderful friends in middle school, going onto highschool I kept losing them one by one until sophomore year I lost all. I made a best friend but was a bit rocky up until senior year we just stopped talking. I have lost and not gained. But I held my head up high.  It is sad but a true thing, a smile from a random person just makes my day, even if it was just a fake one to be nice. It's 7 am, 2 hours before I go to work and I am still in bed, not even moving, didn't even get up once. I am out of it to the point where I let my alarm go on for a good whole 2 minutes before I turned it off. 

*1 hour later*

This time I had to force myself to get up no matter what. I had to force myself to get ready for work. I changed into my work clothes, ate something, and just killed time watching tv until it was 10 minutes before it was 9 am. 

*At work*

Co-worker: Morning Joy! *smiles*.

Me: Morning.

I say as I passed by him and headed towards the locker room. I put my belongings away and headed my way to the cash register. I greeted everyone, took orders, made orders, handed out orders, charged people for their orders...slowly but surely. Until one specific person came. 

Me: Hey! Morning John, the usual? *smiles*.

John: Oh, what's up! *smiles, scratches back of neck*. And yes of course! Also no muffin today. *smiles*.

Me: Coming right up! *smiles*.

I headed towards the back and started making the order. Once I was finished, I headed upfront and gave him his drink.

John: Thanks! 

He says as he smiles and walked towards a table. 

*3 hours later*

It was time to tale my break and I still saw John in the Cafe. I walked up to him and greeted him once again.

Me: Hey! What are you still doing here? *light chuckle*. Unless this coffee is soooo good *sarcastic tone* you wanna savor the flavor. *smiles*.

John: I was waiting for you to be on your break. *smiles*.

Me: Oh. *nervous chuckle* Why is that?

John: Well...

John's P.O.V

*2 weeks ago*

I decided to finally get out of my house for once, decided to go for daily walks all the way to my local cafe from time to time. I've been cooped up in my home just chilling and playing videos with my friends and somewhat making content when I do not procrastinate. But this week has been just bringing me down lately and i have no idea why. Maybe the walk can help. 

I got my keys, my wallet, my phone, and my headphones and headed out. During my walk, I saw amazing views. The trees were tall, the leaves were different colors, from red to orange, or from green to yellow. Some trees have pink which fall when it's windy. The sidewalk gets covered with it and it looks cool!

*10 minutes later*

I finally got to the Cafe, the walk was pretty cool, never imagined that I would enjoy it as much. I went in and started making line. 

A few minutes past and it was my turn. As I walked towards the counter I saw the. most beautiful girl has seen. She was all giddy and nice. Always had a smile on her face when attending to me. I liked her vibes. She took my order and told me that it would be done in 5 minutes. I sat down at the table waiting for my order. 

*5 minutes later*

I got up from my seat and started to get my order. She smiled at me again, I haven't seen a genuine smile for a while, it felt nice. I said thank you and headed my way back home.

*At house*

I finally made it back, turned on my computer, and hopped on discord where my friends were waiting for me to join. 

Me: Hey what's up guys! 

??: John my mannnn what it doooo!

John: Hey Jaren! Just went out for a walk, and got me some coffee and a muffin.

I saw as I hold up the cup and the muffin towards the camera. 

??: You are going to share right? *light chuckles*. Cuz you know I love me some coffee.

Me: my coffee Nogla back off. 

I say as I take a sip.

Jaren: So what you guys wanna play? 

Nogla: Anything really doesn't matter, we gotta wait for Tyler and Anthony though, they wanted to join as well. 

Me: Alright no problem, we can wait. 

Nogla: I'll be right back imma go feed my dogs. 

He got up and left. Whereas I started using my phone. I felt like I had the dorkiest smile ever.

Jaren: What you smiling bout John? *smirks*.

Me: Honestly I have no idea. I was having a rough week and morning that when I got to the cafe and saw the cashier, she smiled at me, like an actual smile, and I don't know it just made my day I guess. 

Jaren: Oooo John's got a crush for the coffee girl. *smirks*.

Me: Dude not even, it was just a simple smile that made a difference on my day that's all. *light chuckle*. 

Nogla got back and the rest of the guys joined. We then started playing until we caved in.
