Carmen's eyes fluttered open, revealing a dark hotel room that was only illuminated by a stream of moonlight shining through the window. She silently groaned as she propped herself on her elbow to see the alarm clock on the nightstand.

2:13 a.m

Wanting to go back to sleep, Carmen turned her body to face the other side of her bed. Her eyes shut tight as she reorganized the covers to her liking and tried to fall asleep once again. But with every twist and turn, Carmen only grew more and more uncomfortable.

She groaned out loud in annoyance. Her hand then shot up to cover her mouth after realizing how loud she was. She hoped she hadn't woken up her boyfriend, Gray.

Carmen lazily opened her eyes to see if he was up. But instead, she found the other half of the bed empty.

Carmen slowly sat up and examined the room around her.

It was the same hotel room that Carmen and Gray had shared during their time in Hawaii, which happened to be VILE's latest target.

She couldn't help but chuckle to herself, thinking about how she had always been the one who seemed to disappear from Gray's side before he had joined the team. She remembered the way she stood Gray up that night in Australia. The sadness reflected in his eyes still made her feel guilty to this day.

Obviously, she never wanted to leave him in the first place. If VILE wasn't such a dangerous threat, Carmen would've stayed with Gray and actually attended the date. But now that Gray was an official member of her crew, they managed to make up for lost time.

Whenever they weren't busy plotting the next caper against VILE, Carmen and Gray spent as much time together as possible. They'd watch movies until one in the morning, take strolls around the cities they were visiting, and go on dinner and coffee dates.

But tonight, Gray was the one who seemed to have run away from Carmen's side. But Carmen didn't take it too seriously. She knew he'd come back... wherever in the world he might be.

She slowly got up and swung her legs over the side of the bed. As she yanked the covers off her body, she was greeted with a chilling breeze that sent cold goosebumps across her entire body.

Carmen shivered as she walked over to her closet and put on a red wool sweater. She couldn't help but wonder why the room was so cold all of a sudden? It was warm when she went to bed.

Carmen walked over to the small kitchen and filled up a glass of water. As she gulped down the drink, she felt a small gust of wind brush against her skin.

Confused, she turned around to see where the wind was coming from, only to find the door to the balcony wide open.

That's why it's so cold!

Carmen sighed and went to close the door. She stood at the front of the door, her hand gripping the handle as she began to close it. But when the door was halfway closed, Carmen's eyes captured the sight of a familiar figure, sitting outside on a lounge chair, gazing down at the view peacefully.

It was Gray.

"Couldn't sleep?" Carmen asked as she took the seat next to Gray.

Gray quickly locked his eyes with Carmen's, his mouth curving into a playful smirk, "Yeah, got too much on my mind right now."

"What're you thinking about?"

"Nothing important." He replied, shaking his head.

Carmen frowned, "What did we say about secrets?"

"That we'd have to be honest with each other if we wanted to start a relationship... like I haven't heard that almost every day now," Gray snapped, his tone harsh.
