Chapter 1 Erik's 15th Birthday Party

-November 22nd 1985-

-2:15 p.m. Beverly Hills High School-

As Lilina is on her way to the parking lot, she feels a hand on her right shoulder. She turns around and notices that it's Erik. "Hey," says Lilina as she smiles at him. "Hey," says Erik as he smiles back. "So um, you're coming to my birthday party, right?" Erik asks. "Of course!" Lilina responds. "Great!" says Erik as he blushes. "Come on, let's go home. Lyle wouldn't mind you riding his car," says Erik. "Oh, um, Tanner is taking me home," says Lilina. "Oh, right." says Erik as he sighs. As Lilina and Erik are walking to the parking lot, they see Tanner.

"Hey, babe!" says Tanner as he waves and smiles at Lilina. "Hey, babe!" says Lilina. She approaches Tanner and kisses his cheek. "Uh, hey," says Erik. "Oh, hey," says Tanner. "Anyways Lilina and I have to go," says Tanner. Tanner rolls his eyes and opens the door for Lilina. Lilina smiles at Erik. "I will see you tomorrow, Erik," says Lilina. "Y-Yeah, s-see you-you tomorrow," says Erik. He smiles back at her and blushes. As Tanner is driving, he stares at Lilina and becomes mad.

"Why the fuck were you with Erik?!" Tanner asks in an angry tone. "Babe, I can explain," says Lilina as she sighs. "Then fucking explain it to me!" says Tanner as he raises his voice. "Erik and I were talking about his birthday party. He invited me and I'm going tomorrow," says Lilina. "Birthday party?! What the fuck babe?! Every Saturday we always go on a fucking date!" says Tanner as he raises his voice. "Babe, I'm sorry. He's holding his birthday party tomorrow because his birthday is next Wednesday. And plus I-" "Shut up, slut!" says Tanner as he raises his voice. "Babe, please. I can make it up to you. I promise," says Lilina as she sighs. She begins to stare at the window and holds back her tears. "Whatever, you're a piece of shit. And of course he didn't invite me. That son of a bitch," says Tanner. The car ride gets very quiet. They finally arrive at Lilina's house.

"I love you, babe," says Lilina. "Love you too, slut," says Tanner. As Lilina grabs the car door handle, she feels a painful grip on her left wrist. "I'm not done!" says Tanner as he raises his voice. "What now?" Lilina talking to herself in her head. Tanner aggressively grabs her face and stares at her with a sinister look and says, "You better fucking tell me all the detail about that god damn birthday party. And if he tries to kiss you, I'm going to fucking end his life". "Babe! Oh my god! He is not going to kiss me!" says Lilina. "I have a feeling he is going to! Now get the fuck out of my car!" says Tanner as he smacks her head. Holding back her tears, she gets out of Tanner's car and says, "I will call you later." He doesn't respond and drives away. She sighs and gets inside her house. 

"I'm home!" says Lilina. "Hi, sweetie! Welcome back!" says Lilina's mother as she approaches Lilina and gives her a hug. Lilina's mother was born in Gangnam, South Korea and moved to California at a very young age. She is a gynecologist. "Hey, princess," says Lilina's father as he is reading the newspaper. He was also born in Gangnam, South Korea, and moved to California at a very young age as well. Lilina's father is a famous neurosurgeon and is very strict towards his daughter. He wants her to be very successful and wants her to study hard to become a doctor.

"So how's your study going so far?" Lilina's father asks. "It's going great. I have a bio exam in two weeks," Lilina responds. "You better study hard and get an A," says Lilina's father. "Y-Yes, dad," says Lilina. "Oh, Edwin. You don't always have to always ask her about her school life," says Lilina's mother as she sighs. "No, mom. It's fine. He knows what's the best for me," says Lilina. "Now that's my girl," says Lilina's father as he smiles. "Also sweetie, just letting you know that the Menendez invited us for dinner. So make sure to get ready at five thirty," says Lilina's mother. "Yes, mom," says Lilina. Lilina heads upstairs to her room.

"Oh, no! I promised to Tanner that I'm going to call him! How am I going to explain the whole situation?!" says Lilina as she sighs.
