"Thank you," I smiled admiring the dark onyx stone, surrounded by diamonds. It was all white gold, my parents knowing I prefer white gold or silver over regular gold. I opened the longer of the two packages next, being careful not to destroy the rapping paper. The paper pulled back to reveal a long wooden box. I knew what it was immediately, it was a custom wand, the one that was described when I took the online test. I jumped into my fathers arms happily, "thank you so much!" I rejoiced before kissing my mother's cheek.
"You still have one more to open darling," my mother smiled. I nodded looking at the small box, opening it carefully to reveal a snake broach, the snake had emeralds for eyes and seemed to be coiled around a larger emerald. I cocked my head to the side furrowing my brows, confused on why my parents would get me a snake broach. The animal on our family crest was a crow, not a snake. Seeing my confusion my mother explained, "It is said to grant wishes, y/k, though it isn't proven. We still thought it would interest you." Wishes huh? Sounds like mom has been reading too many urban legends.
The gift is still appreciated knowing it cost a lot if my mother was in charge of buying it. "Thank you mom, it's beautiful," I turned my attention to the head maid. "Miss Lola please take my gifts to my room," I directed. She nodded taking my gifts up to my room. With that I ran my hands over my skirt, "shall we go now?" I questioned.
"Of course! Your father has some business to attend to before the party tonight so it will just be the two of us." My mother stated. With that she gave my father a peck and we walked outside to get into the car.

After hours of shopping and picking out dresses, masks, table cloths, and new napkins, we where on our way home. My mother was making calls and sending emails, while I thought about the broach. What if I could make a real wish? What would I wish for, to be in the Harry Potter universe, bring some characters to life, make people like me? I didn't know what until I got a notification on my phone. My lock screen, it was Draco Malfoy, the character I loved most from the Harry Potter books.
The character I felt almost connected to, he must feel as lonely as I, he was mis understood, misguided, lonely. All of his friends where just there because of who his father was. I figured it wouldn't work but it'd be interesting to see what Malfoy would think of living in a muggle world where he had no magic. Once we got home I rushed out of the car, excitedly running up the stairs, to my room. There it lay on my bed, the light making the green gem shine brightly, not sure how to make the wish I picked it up and fastened it to my shirt. I closed my eyes, "Please, please, please bring Draco Malfoy, from Harry Potter, to life and to me," I begged, but when I opened my eyes there was nothing.
Frowning I sighed knowing it was a pretty far fetched wish. I took the broach off and placed it back on my bed, before walking back down stairs to collect my gown for tonight. I changed in one of the down stairs rooms, not wanting to go back up the stairs. The silky material of the dark teal two piece mermaid style dress was cool against my skin, as I stepped into the skirt part, zipping up the back easily. The top slipped on and I zipped it up halfway before walking out and asking my mom to get the part I could not reach. Once in the beautiful gown and my y/h/c was in loose curls I smiled, admiring how beautiful I felt in the dress.
My mother handed me a white gold mascaraed mask that looked like it was made of gears. This was a mascaraed themed party after all. My mother had one themed like this for her fifteenth birthday, and only saw it as necessary I had one too. I stepped into the kitchen realizing the chefs made me butter beer. I thanked them happily and walked back into the ball room, to see my parents greeting a few guests, just family and some of their colleagues who had children my age. I didn't mind the people, even though half of them I only met at picnics, and knew where all stuck up spoiled kids. Though that doesn't say much coming from me, someone who has never had any hardship in my life other than some death threats and bullying.
