The Toads

Frine woke up with a start. What was that all about? She had a dream that she fell in love with a frog. Specifically, the leader of the Frog Army, Azula's, son. He was an amazing frog, the kindest she had ever met. He believed that frogs and toads weren't as different as everyone seemed to think. I agree she thought. What was his name? I know it starts with a R. Rach maybe? She looked back at the ceiling. I should probably get up. I won't be able to fall back asleep.
She got up and hopped out of her room, into the bathroom. Frine looked in the mirror and smiled. She rinsed herself and grabbed the flowers she picked from her plants and put them in her headband. They were yellow, Frine's favorite color. She adjusted her headband and smiled again, remembering her dream about the frog and walked into the dining room.
She walked in and looked on the table, which had green leaves on a plate. She pulled a few off and onto another plate and walked outside of her mushroom house with a red top and off white stump. Frine walked over to the little table made of light grey clay and places down her plate. She looks around at the other houses on her street, a simple dirt road with little mushroom houses lining either side of the street and little mailboxes.
Frine looked down at her leaves and gently took one and put it in her mouth. She loves leaves and she eats all of them. She gets up and leaves her plate on the table and walks over to the street. She sees her neighbors running down the street and playing. Their neighborhood is the nicest and the only one without chaos.
She gets her plate and hops back inside.
"Good morning Frine," her father says with a smile.
"Good morning. I think I'm going to go to the park today."
"The park? That's outside of the neighborhood! What happens if there is a fight there?"
"Dad. They know better than to attack children. They wouldn't fight at the park."
"How would you know that?"
Frine sighed. "I'm going. That's the end of it. I'll see you later."
She hopped out of the house and down the street to the next neighborhood. She looked down the next street and saw Toad Soldiers standing on either side of the park entrance. She walked down the street and went into the park, nodding at the soldiers. She went to her favorite swing and looked around at the park. There wasn't a single child in sight. When she turned around she saw another animal. A frog?

The Frogs

Rach woke up shaking and sweaty. A Toad? He shook his head. No way. I don't want to be with a toad. What's so bad about a toad? You're working for equality right? Why wouldn't you? He sighs and gets up and looks at his clock. 6:30 am. He sighs again and gets up and goes to the bathroom.
He brushes his green skin with a soaked brush and walks into the living room. In general, he isn't much of a breakfast eater. He nods at his father and hops out the door and into the front yard. He looked up at the dark sky, darkened by smoke. His neighborhood was one of the most dangerous ones, where lots of the bombs and shooting happens. The war is becoming more dangerous every day.
He thinks about the day Conan, your mothers second in command, came and told him and his father that his mother died. He remembered the exact conversation.
"Conan! What are you doing here? Where's Mary?"
"Dad? Why's Conan here?"
"I have come to tell you something. Please, Rach, go to your room"
"But Dad-"
"Rach. Go."
Rach ran to his room, but listened from his room.
"She was killed. By the Toad Army leader."
He shut his door and ran to his bed. His mother is gone? No. She can't be dead. It's not true.
Rach came back to himself and grabbed a fly from the air and ate it. He was thinking about the girl in his dream. Frine? I think that was her name. He smiled thinking about her. They were happy together He woke up as she said "The park". Maybe she will be there if I go? The park is in the Toad turf, you can't go. But what about seeing her?
He sighed as he decided to go. Who cares? You only have once chance at life. He smiled at the chance to need Frine. She was a pretty toad with flowers in her hair and a deep green color. He looked back at his house. I'll be back soon. I promise.
He walked down the street and saw a clearer sky. He hopped to the back of the park and looked around, making sure that no toads were around. He gently hopped over the fence and looked over the park. He saw another frog on the swing. Not a frog. A toad? THE toad! He smiled at her. And then she turned around.
