Hey, I am Anika. Anika Chaudhary. My dad is a rich industrialist in Canada. I don't have a mother, this is why I don't share good relation with my dad. My dad sort of blames me for her death because the last thing she did before dying was give birth...to me. Well I have an elder brother too...who gives me the share of loves of everyone (mom, dad and his own). My relation with my brother is the best and only relation of blood with good terms. I have a Nanny, who takes care and have been doing so since my birth. Well, Keeping her was the only generous thing my dad ever did. She never lets me feel the void of a mother as she fills it with her love and care.

When I was 15, I had a life changing event and my life took a turn for good.  But little did I know....that this life changing moment had more in store for me than my dad could ever give. It had it's share of pain and happiness. It was a journey of self discovery, of love, of friendship, and of destiny.

I was awake and waiting for my dad. It was 3 in the morning and my dad was not home yet. I called his secretary and she said he didn't go to office. This scared me bcoz however he was, he was my dad. But soon around 3.30 I heard car brakes and the police car siren.

I went to open the door and saw 2 policemen giving support to my dad and he was horribly drunk. I gestured them to lay my dad down on the couch and after they did, they enquired if I had an elder in the house. I nodded and went to call my brother and Nanny and went to sit with my dad. The policemen talked to my nan and bro and then went. My nan came to me and asked me to go sleep. I refused and started crying and shouting to take my pain out of my heart. My nan and bro tried to console me and eventually I let them.

I was sad that moment...bcoz this had become a regular thing. That night I decided I won't stay with my dad anymore and will go to Mumbai where my dad lived before moving to Canada. I decided to go there because even though my dad's memories were there I wasn't a part of them and it would have been easy.

I told my decision to everyone and decided to take my nan along as me going would mean her losing the job and I didn't want this. No one stopped me and my brother helped me get admission in a school, tickets and other necessary arrangement. Within a week I left and that moment gave me a sense of freedom.

Yes, I felt like a caged bird who is now free. I even decided I will live in the school dorm and will visit the mansion on weekends.

Author's note...

This is fictional. The story is not mine as in not an autobiography but written in first person and narrator format. This is a different style than the usual used and I hope you like it.

As I don't get good responses on my stories, from here I will start setting goals. They will be increased later.
