"Tell me a story." The boy whispered into the darkness.
"What type of story?" I ask.
"The one about the guardians. I love that story."
"That story? Again? How many times have you listened to it anyways? Forty, Fifty?"
"It doesn't matter." He sounded sincere as I slowly shake my head.
He wouldn't let it drop, no matter how many times I asked or even begged for him to choose something else.
The Handsome Duckling?
NO.
Attack on Fightman?
NO.
I had tried offering several different stories to him, just to catch myself a break from his begging, but as always, he would sniff in disgust and turn away, refusing to talk to me until I eventually gave up and read him the story.
Man, why is he so much like me?
"Read the story Daddy." The boy says, his voice darker and more menacing.
"Do I have to?" I moan.
He merely snorts and that's all it takes for me to give in.
"Fiiine, but at least let me turn on the lights first."
I feel him shift in excitement on my lap as I reach over his head and turn on the light.
A faint, light pink glow fills the room, which causes the boy to look up at me with his bright blue, sparkling eyes.
"Hello." He gives me a cute smile and I respond by flicking him on the forehead.
"Be grateful you're cute you little mongrel." I chuckle as he blinks in confusion. "If I wasn't the coolest Dad ever, you might have been read another, more boring book than this one."
"But your stories are never boring Daddy." He makes a pouting face. "People are just dumb!"
I try to hold in laughter but a small snort passes through my already pathetic defense system. "Uh-huh, tell that to Mr.X when he comes around to check on you Eddie."
"Read me the story already." He says, a clear grin on his face as I sigh and shake my head. Sometimes I wish I could throw the kid out the window...
Sometimes as in rarely ever.
Rarely ever as in NEVER.
I pick up a leather book from the bedside and open to the first page. "Eddie...A long, long time ago-"

Eddie wasn't his real name of course, his true name was Edgar. Edgar Ryou Allen
He was merely five at the time Mr.X introduced me to him in that cold cell. He was a scientific project in development, sent away to live in a facility known as the LFAX that kept rare and special creatures and humans as prisoners until their powers could be used for weapons to be destroyed.
When I arrived with Mr.X, there had been over thirty members trapped within the vast building, most of them kids with the exception of a couple adults, a few of them being over thousands of years old.
Mr.X took me into Edgar's cramped cell and introduced me to the boy, who was huddled against the corner of the room clutching a little blue teddy bear to his chest and whimpering.
"This is him?" I ask, towering over the boy. I was well over six feet tall, Mr.X being only five foot eleven and standing at my shoulder.
"That's him alright." Mr.X briskly nodded, his jet black hair trailing down his shoulders as he turned around to look at me. "This is Edgar Allen, one of the most powerful creatures in the LFAX.... Besides Necrofear and Ravenor."
"You mean the demon who loves manga, hates getting up early, and can wipe out civilizations in an blink of an eye?"
"Sounds like someone's been paying attention."
"If  being forced to read it at 1:00am in the morning paying attention, sure."
"And Ravenor?" Mr.X prompted, wanting to see my reaction.
I could tell he was disappointed when all I did was roll my eyes and shake my head.
"He's too powerful for someone his age." I muttered mostly to myself.
Edgar sniffed at this, catching my attention once more.
"He...he's not mean..." The boy whispers in a raspy voice. "He...he's my friend...."

Those words softened my heart at once.
I knelt down and gave him an innocent smile, one he slowly returned after watching me for a solid minute.
"You're....different." Edgar says, tilting his head. His blue eyes never strayed from my own eyes, and when I extended a hand, he took it.
"My name's Galatica." I smiled
"Edgar...why is your hair blue and purple?"
"Already to the questions?" I fluff my long ponytail and adjust my trench coat. "Well, what if I told you I ruled the stars?"
Mr.X grunted behind me "that's putting it lightly."
"Quiet you." I hiss, not looking at him.
Mr.X chuckles but doesn't mock me any further.
"You can contwol-" My heart softened again. "-the stars?"
"You bet I can." I grin. "Wanna see?"
Edgar nodded so hard I thought his head was going to fall off his shoulders.
I gently open my palm before snapping my fingers. At once, the room was filled with a soft purple glow, tiny galaxies dancing around us as Edgar gaped in awe and Mr. X grinned as he leaned against the wall.
I snap my fingers again and the stars vanished in a small "pop!" Before I stood up.
Edgar was also on his feet at once, embracing my legs in a tight hug and squealing.
"AGAIN!" He cried out, laughing.
"He seems to like you." Mr.X patted me on the shoulder.
"I know." I look directly at him. "And I'm taking him home with me."

Chapter one is complete!
Sadly, I don't have any way to express pictures of my characters yet, so bear with me as I try my best to figure this out.

This is the first actual chapter I've published on the LFAX, so don't expect it to be god tier quality.

Until next time!
