"Toni can you go grab some sticks for the fire?" Dot asks and I notice Toni get up, a hint of annoyance in the way she did.

"I can come?" I offer and she shakes her head looking down at me with a smile. "No it's okay," She assures me but I stand up anyways.

"I'm sorry let me rephrase it for ya, I am coming," I say and she smiles widely and we walk off into the forest.

"You know those bitches are so needy." Toni complains as I follow behind her.

"They're just doing everything they can to make sure we're all healthy," I say, always trying to find the positive in every situation.

"Okay little miss sunshine, still annoying," She says looking back at me and then behind me before reaching her hand out. I smile at her and grab her hand excitedly.

"Toni, this way," I insist and pull her in the opposite direction then she was walking. "Where are we going?" She asks and I look back at her without saying a word, just a smile.

I bring her to our spot, I'm surprised she didn't realize.. Or maybe she did but just didn't say anything.

"What a beautiful tree," Toni says and I turn to her grabbing both of her hands. "Beautiful just like you," I say.

"How cheesy," She laughs and it causes me to smile.

I watch as she looks down at my lips and let's go of my hands. Her hands slowly find my back and mine find her face. We wait a few seconds before connecting lips. They crashed together like the waves crashed the sand. So chaotic yet so beautiful. The waves will always hit the sand, and I hope my lips with always touch hers.

"Finally I found the-"

The sound of a Martha's voice echos causing us to both pull apart quickly.

Oh no...

"Martha we were I just we-" Toni stutters looking at me for help but I couldn't even look up at either of them.

"I called it.. Sexual tension. I always knew they had the hots for each other," Fatin says and I look up at her creasing my eyebrows.

She said she'd keep it a secret.

"Toni, why didn't you tell me?" Martha mumbles you could tell she was hurt just by the sound of her voice.

"I was going to I swear," She says rushing to Martha but Martha runs off.

And I thought I was the dramatic one.

"What's her problem? I thought the only 'homophobe' here was cinderella?" Fatin says and I give her a dirty look.

I felt guilty, as if I need to run into the confessional and confess my sins.

Toni follows after Martha and I sit down slowly. I touch my neck searching for my only form of comfort but it wasn't there.

"You know, the jesus necklace didn't fit you anyways," Fatin says and sits beside me.

I look over to her unhooking her necklace. She hands it to me and I look at her with confusion.

"Take it, hold it when you need to, I don't use it for comfort but I know you need it," She says and I take it from her hands. "Thank you," I say in almost a whisper and hold it in my palms.

"Wanna talk about it?" She asks and I shake my head.

"I just want to be alone right now," I say and she stands up, grabbing a lychee in the process.

"Well when you need someone, I'll be painting my nails," She says and winks before walking off.

I burry my face in my knees and rock back and forth.

Toni seemed so ashamed to be with me.. Here I am thinking it'd be the role reversed.

I sit there for a while before standing up. It was already dark so I must've sat there for awhile. I grab a couple lychees and head back to the beach.

When I arrive I see Toni talking to Martha, vodka in hand. I decide to go to them.

"Look Martha I'm sorry-"

"Shelby don't, it's not your fault," Martha interrupts me and I try my best to smile although I failed miserably.

I sit on the sand in between the two below them as they sat on the log. I watch as Toni puts the Vodka in front of me and I deny it. The last thing I need right now is to be drinking. I look down at the necklace Fatin gave me and I turn to Toni.

"Toni, can you?" I ask as I hand her the necklace. "You found it?" She questions and I shake my head. "Fatin gave me hers," I tell her and she glances at Fatin. "Yeah of course," She says and moves my hair, that's completely fucked up by the way, to the side. she puts the necklace in front of me and clips it in the back touching my shoulder indicating she had finished.

"Thank you," I say with a smile to her.

"So are you guys dating?" Martha asks and we both turn to her.

Toni immediately reply's the same time I did.

"No" She says.

"I don't know"

Martha looks between us both and I turn to face the fire. So it did mean nothing to her.. I knew it. How could some hard ass like Toni ever find interest in me.

"Shelby I-" Toni begins but I cut her off, "Oh no it's perfectly fine!" I say getting up.

I move to sit by Fatin and Dot. Maybe they'll appreciate my existence since Toni can't.

"Guys. We're going to die out here," Martha says and I look into the fire deeply. Maybe that's what I want. To die somewhere I'm completely free.

I'm completely free...

I can do and say whatever I want and there will be no consequences.

The thoughts intrude my actions and I stand up interrupting the conversation that was going on.

"I'm gay!" I say over everyone and it falls silent.

I cover my mouth and quickly realize I had just came out to the last people I'll ever be with.

"We know," Dot says and I look back at her confused.

"It's okay Shelbs," Fatin assures me and I turn to face everyone again.

"All my life I have been. I never once thought a man was attractive enough to marry and spend the rest of my life with. Never in my life have I ever thought anyone was fit to marry me," I say and look to Toni.

"Until Toni," I say and Toni's eyes go wide at my words. Even the silence was loud.

"I love you Toni, I never knew what it was like to love someone and have them love you until that night at the tree.." I say and look directly in her eyes.

"Woah woah woah, you've been sneaking off ever since you found the Lychee tree!?" Dot says and everyone laughs.

"Shelby you don't have to do this," Toni says and I smile. "What do I have to lose? I can't get yelled at by my father or shamed by my mother? I'm completely free!" I say and lift up my hands.

"True that!" Rachel says coughing up the energy to talk.

"I am obsessed with chocolate cake," She adds causing everyone to laugh.

Soon everyone starts to expose themselves, with their deepest darkest secrets.

I look to Toni and she smiled looking below her, indicating me to come to her.

I sit in between her legs and she hugs me from behind. I smile widely at the feeling of her hands.

I grabbed onto her wrist and laid my head against her arms.

I have never felt so at ease in my entire life.
