With the falling rays
of the sun
as the first long shadows
of the night
skulk across the frozen landthe man enters
and lamplight spills
onto snows drifted
by cold north windsSmoke swells
boiling into the darkening sky
as the woman bustles
at the fireHe stands
careless of winter clawing
at his back
warmth filling
his heart
emptied of wordsEnchantment spilling
into her eyes
she turns smiling
pleasured at the fire
