"Xiao Xingcheeeen!" Xue Yang yelled from his room. He knew the man was right outside his room but he liked to have his fun.
"Yes, your highness?" Xingchen opened the door with a soft sigh. He looked sleep deprived.
"Would you like to have a drink? I snuck in some wine from last night's dinner," Xue Yang said cheerfully.
"I cannot drink while I'm on the job," Xingchen said, "maybe tomorrow on my break."
"But I want a drinking buddy," Xue Yang whined.
"Your highness, please," Xingchen said, "go to bed."
"I will if you have a drink with me," Xue Yang said cheekily.
Xingchen thought for a moment, "Fine." He walked inside and closed the door, then went and sat down on Xue Yang's bed.
"Yay!" Xue Yang took out two cups out of no where and poured the wine. He passed a cup to Xingchen and kept the other to himself.
The two took a sip, "Your highness, are you sure this is appropriate?"
"Yeah! Who said I can't drink with a friend?" Xue Yang asked.
Xingchen sighed, "Fine." He took another sip and felt nothing. He had a high tolerance after all.
After a few drinks, Xue Yang was wasted. He was giggling and jumping around the room, "Xingchen! Catch me!" He jumped into the air and let himself fall down into Xingchen's arms.
"Your majesty!" Xingchen gasped. He caught Xue Yang, "Are you alright? Are you hurt?"
Xue Yang could only laugh, "You caught me!" He hid his face into Xingchen's neck blushed furiously.
"Your highness please calm down," Xingchen begged.
"Did you know that I am in love with you?" Xue Yang asked playfully, his words slurred together.
"...pardon?"
"Yeah! I've been in love with you for..." the man took his hand out and began counting, "1,2,3...5...7...10." Xingchen couldn't believe it, "TEN YEARS! I have been in love with you for about ten years!"
"Sir, please, you are drunk," Xingchen sighed.
"But it's true," Xue Yang suddenly got teary eyed, "I love you. I've loved you for so long. Can't you return even a little bit of those feelings? I just want love from you, that's all I want."
"Please don't cry," Xingchen pleaded, "don't cry. Just...calm down first." He set Xue Yang on the bed and turned around, but was pulled back by Xue Yang.
"Do you hate being close to me?" Xue Yang whispered.
"Your highness, you are drunk," Xingchen said calmly.
"Maybe if you kiss me, I'll get sober," Xue Yang suggested. He pinned Xingchen down on the bed, "Won't you comply to this prince's suggestions?"
"Your highness," Xingchen said sternly, "let me go."
"No," Xue Yang leaned down and kissed the man. Xingchen let out a noise of surprise, but soon melted into the kiss.
He let out a soft moan, which snapped him out of it. He pushed Xue Yang away, "Your highness! This isn't allowed."
Xue Yang scoffed, "I don't care." He leaned down and pressed his lips against the male's again. He bit Xingchen's bottom lip gently and slipped his tongue between the soft lips.
Xingchen's cheeks were red and hot, as he struggled to push Xue Yang away. He didn't necessarily love the man, but he didn't hate him either.
"Your highness!" Xingchen gasped. Xue Yang had grabbed the man's behind and was massaging the flesh. "Your highness, stop."
Xue Yang stopped, "I'm-I'm sorry!" He rushed out of the room and ran to the big backyard. He sat down on a concrete bench and sighed, "What am I doing?"
He knew he shouldn't have done anything. He felt like he had just murdered someone or something. Xue Yang stood up and walked to the small pond nearby. He took a rock and threw it at the water.
The smooth rock skipped on the water, leaving a path of ripples. It stopped and sunk to the bottom of the pond. Right where the moon's reflection was.
Xue Yang gripped his head and groaned, "I'm such an idiot!" Then it hit him. Xingchen doesn't love him back at all.
After all those years of loving him, Xue Yang earned nothing in return. He sighed and watched the puff of breath disperse in front of his eyes.
It was all a waste. All the gifts and compliments had gone to waste.
He threw another rock and watched it skip farther away. It stopped exactly where it did before, how odd.
He threw another one, and another one, and another one! But they all stopped at the same spot. No matter how hard he threw it, they wouldn't go farther than the reflection of the moon.
This had to mean something. Maybe it meant that he wasn't trying hard enough, and had to throw it harder. Maybe it meant that he needed to practice some more.
Whatever it meant he wouldn't give up until he figured it out. He would find out what it meant and make Xingchen love him at the same time.
He would succeed. No matter what it takes.
