It was really a great moment. The moment I've been waiting for... The First Kiss
I honestly don't know why it took us this long just for our first kiss. I mean, all the kids at school are practically on their one millionth kiss by now. But Lucas and I been dating for about a year and a half now, but still no kiss. But now. Now was a great moment. I tried to think more about the kiss, rather than why it took so long to get to this point.
Soft, warm, lips.
Then he pulled away. "What's wrong?" He asked, demandingly.
I gulped. He knew something was bothering me. But how could I tell him that I was upset that this didn't happen earlier? "Oh, nothing. I just- I'm just really happy," I lied. Then his lips brushed once more against mine, then he stopped. I was afraid that this kiss wouldn't happen for another year and a half.
"So..." He shoved his hands in his jean pockets. "You wanna catch a movie or something?"
I sighed, this was always how our romantic things ended. With our eyes staring cluelessly at a movie screen, or stuffing unhealthy deep fried food into our mouths.
I always tried to make him happy, so as always I said, "Yeah, sure sounds great!"

At the movie, I was expecting maybe another kiss from him, because there was practically nobody in the movie room. Plus the movie wasn't about a bunch of guys trying to kill each other with bombs and things like that.
Yes! Finally! His arm was moving around me, he was turning his head...
He was grabbing popcorn.
Popcorn that I bought. With money from my college fund. Boy oh boy! Was this romantic!
I knew from the beginning that Lucas -the captain of the football team- wasn't going to be like dating any others. After all, I think he dated like all the girls of Smithridge High School. I held out my fingers and started to count, in my head.
"What are you counting?" Oh shoot he noticed!
"Um... how many questions I think there were on my calculus test." I lied again. I'm a pretty darn good liar. There! See? I lied again!
"Oh." And his eyes moved back to the screen.
"Hey, um, I'm gonna head to the bathroom real quick. Do you need anything?"
He stood up, he was a lot taller than me. His green eyes sparkled. He looked like he was going to make another move. Then like before, he just grabbed the popcorn bucket.
"Yeah, we need more popcorn." Then he sat down.
"Okay." I said.
"Wait. Everly?" He stood up very quickly. He ran so that he was facing me.
"Yes, Lucas?" My voice sounded excited, but too fluttery or flirtatious. I sounded like some Barbie.
"More butter." Then he shoved beside me and slumped back down in his seat. Stupid boys.
When I went to the bathroom, I splashed the gross-luke-warm-theater bathroom-water on my face.
Why? Why am I spending my Friday nights like this? Why am I spending my Friday nights with a jerk boyfriend who only lets me spend money? Why?
I don't get it. He used to tell me I was beautiful. What happened?
I just decided to walk out.
