The morning was a blur, I was too concerned about the Showing.

"Evelyn, snap out of it." Evan said.

We were eating breakfast, and Evan was overeating, of course.

"You look exhausted!" Amira screamed.

"I'm not! Shut up sometimes, Amira! I'm fine!" I shouted.

I could see the hurt on her face.

"I'm sorry, I'm just nervous, that's all." I apologized, sincerely.

She just nodded in response.

That was the only thing I could remember about the hazy morning.

"Get in your dressing rooms, your stylists are waiting on you!" Amira demanded.

I walked in, happy to see Dani.

"Hey! So you're the grain district, right? Well, I did my best to work with that. Here's uh...what I could do."

She yanked a red cloth off a figure.

It was a mannequin, with the most beautiful dress I'd ever seen!

It was a gold dress with a lot of sequins and there was wheat on it!

"Oh my gosh! Dani! It's amazing! Thank you!" I hugged her.

"Good!" she said, with a sign of relief on her face.

I got into it and felt like a different person.

I got my makeup done, which was a smokey eye with a nude lip color.

I looked in the mirror.

Wow.

I looked....beautiful.

"You aren't district 9 Evelyn. When you go out there, you're the Evelyn that's going to fight to come home to her family. If you die, you need to die fighting. Okay, Evelyn?"

I turned around to see Dani.

"Okay."

"Now go out there and kick some butt!"

I smiled.

We got into the chariot, where I saw Evan.

He was dressed in a suit that looked identical to my dress.

"Hey, Evelyn! Aren't you excited?"

Jesus, how could this dude be so happy in the worst situations?

"Yeah."

I didn't want to be all Debbie-downer with him, considering how much I crushed on him. I could be happier, actually.

"I'm super excited, actually!" I told him.

He seemed happy with my response.

Soon, the chariots fired off.

I smiled and waved at the crowds of the Capitol.

They threw roses at us and screamed our names.

I was sure of one thing: Dani kept her promise.
