The One Who Would Spark

I reside in the canvas of my mind
painting lines like a poet
or a painter
or a danger to society--
I got the magic weapon
knowledge is my power
incite a hunger in the ignorant
then devour the system
decimate their definitions
kill enemies with similes,
the power of wisdom--

I reside in the canvas of my mind
painting lines like a poet
or a painter
or an answer to the prophecy--
not even spoken in whispers
the story was told through
welts on black backs,
finger-traced blood-lines,
in silence they mapped
the future's foretelling:
the mindless attacks,
the violence, the crack,
the segregation of children
defloration of women,
the years of oppression
and systematic depression
as the tears rose from their hearts
they envisioned a weapon,
the one who would spark--

I reside in the canvas of my mind
painting lines, not of anger--
Promise.
This is peaceful poetry,
the power that I wield will only work
when people wish to see,
dare to think, and change the world,
like a poem
or a painting
or a revolution.
