Y/n's POV

We had nothing else to do than to warm up, but I don't need to since I've ran down a mountain with knives and traps

I'm clearly stretched out

"Ne, Y/n." Said Shinobu

"Hmm?"

"There had been a demon lurking here. My crow sent a message." She said as she handed me the note

"Oh, maybe we do have more demons here." I said with a smile

"I hope the Final Selection will take place a bit sooner since I also have to focus on my studies..." I said as a dumb idea struck me

"Unless... I quit school in exchange for training." I said with a small smile and everyone looked at me shocked

"Eh?!" They all said as I flinched

"I have to! And I also have to quit everything so I could train!" I said

"What about your dreams?" Asked Sanemi with a slight frown

"This is my dream, becoming a Demon Slayer and protect humankind from demons." I said as I close my eyes and thought of my life as a Demon Slayer

"I've always wanted to become one ever since I saw you guys." I said as I feel a warm pair of arms around me

I open my eyes to see Giyuu hugging me

"What's wrong?" I asked

"Nothing, just wanted to hug you." He said as started tearing up all of a sudden

"Mom! Please! Don't leave me!" 9 year old me kept screaming as I looked at my mom's bloody figure

"What happened to her anyway?!" I asked my father

"S-she was stabbed by a robber." He said but I smell lies from him

"Then where is the knife placed at?" I asked

"It doesn't matter! She's dead, and she asked me to protect you!" Said my dad as he hugged me

"I'll protect you too dad..." I said as I screamed in his chest

That was the last time I've hugged someone, and this brings back memories

"Y/n? What's wrong?" Asked Muichiro as I just hugged Giyuu tighter and I buried my face in his chest

My dad was a soldier that time I was 14 and he didn't come home

He was dead

"Y/n? What's wrong?" Asked Isabella, our caretaker at the orphanage we live in

"I want to die! I want to kill myself and join my parents!" I said as I screamed into my pillow

"They won't want that for you. What will they think if you ended your life? No parents ever wanted that for their children. They want them to live their life to the fullest." She said as she hugged me

"You think so?" I asked

"I know so. Now go to sleep, you must have been devastated from the news. But don't worry, I'll bring you to the park tomorrow, just you and me to lighten up your mood. Sounds good?" She asked as she cradled me in her arms

"Yes Mama..." I said as I cried myself to sleep

I began shaking and I hugged Giyuu tighter, they began to get worried
