(Still Ethan's POV)

I make my way up to the front porch where my dad called me. I see him crouched down next to Angel. Wait, Angel? Doesn't Kira have her?

"Dad, how is she here? Isn't Angel supposed to be at Kira's house?" I ask, slowly walking up to the tired mare.

"Yeah. I'm calling Deb right now. If Kira can't respect Dani's prized possession, then I can't trust her," Dad replies, typing a number into his cell phone.

So apparently what happened is that Kira flipped out at Angel. When Dad asked for Kira to talk to, she broke into tears and explained. As I brought Angel back to her stall with a light blanket and plenty of feed and hay, Dad told me we were going to pick Dani up from the hospital. I hope she's okay, I really care about her.

We get to the hospital and they direct us to Dani's room. She's lying in her bed, playing on her phone. She looks up at us and sighs. Her eye is dark purple and she has a deep gash on her forehead, but other than that she looks okay.

"She won't speak to us," the nurse says with a concerend look on her face. "I've tried everything."

"She's mute," I say, looking at the nurse. "She never talks to anyone. except her horse." With that, Dani looks up sharply and stands.

"Let's go see Angel," Dad says, signing a sheet the nurse gave him.

On the ride home, Dad had to explain to Dani what happened to Angel at Kira's house. She starts silently crying, and doesn't stop until we're home.

She throws open the car door and runs down to the barn. Angel sees her and starts whinnying, and then Dani gasps sharply and cries again. On Angel's leg, there's a deep gash. And not just any type of gash.

A mark from a mountain lion's claw.

(Sorry, really bad chapter. More of a filler, but oh whale ._. But guys pls go check out my other stories, Chasing Storm and Maple Stream River Academy. I'm focusing more on the academy book and it only has 16 reads. Unless my wattpad is glitching again. Really, I enjoy that book, but since no one's reading it, what's the point, right? Okay, night doods.)
