"Hey, Peyton?"
Peyton looked over her shoulder to see Stephen.
"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry I haven't been hanging out with you lately, I was hanging out with Isabelle, I think I might like her," he said, shifting sideways awkwardly.
"Is she the one you liked before?" Peyton asked.
"No. I liked someone else," he said, looking in her eyes, "and I still do. But I know she'll never like me back anyway."
Peyton felt disappointed. She knew it was never her. That wasn't a possibility. She knew she would never be with him. She just had to get over him.
So that's what she did.
