I was lying on my bed still thinking about that guy when my phone rang. Eise is calling a video call.
I fixed myself before accepting the call. "Yes?" bungad ko sa kanya.
"Have you made up your mind?" diretsong tanong niya sa akin.
Then all of a sudden the voice of the mysterious guy flashed back to me, "Give yourself a break. Away from this, take time to breathe and have peace." I smiled when I remembered him.
"Hey. Natulala ka na diyan." tawag niya muli sa akin.
"Oo, may naalala lang." sagot ko sa kanya.
"So ano na? You join us?" tanong niya ulit.
"Yeah." walang buhay kong tugon sa kanya.
Nakita ko ang pagbabago ng itsura ng mukha niya ng marinig ang sagot ko.
"Yes! Finally. I'm so excited." she said while jumping around her room like a child.
"By the way di ba vice president ka ng class natin? Bakit hindi mo alam ang nangyayari sa outing?" she curiously asked.
"You know what happened before. And besides, I cut all ties between them." I explained.
"For sure they will be surprised to see you there. Especially those brats," she said in her conyo voice and rolled her eyes.
I shook my head and laughed when she did that. "I need to sleep, Eise. You too!" paalam ko sa kanya at tinapos ang video call.
Bumalik ako sa pagkakahiga at hindi namalayang nakatulog na.
Kinabukasan ay nag jogging ako sa may park malapit sa condo. Sabado ngayon and my sched is to go to the grocery.
Naglinis na rin ako ng unit ko at nagpalaundry ng mga damit ko. I've been leaving alone for almost a year and so. I don't mind having maid or anyone else, I can do chores.
When I get tired, I rest for a while then shower. It's almost night so I prepare my dinner.
Dumaan lang ang linggo sa akin na parang wala lang. I stayed in my unit for whole day.
When Monday came, naitutok ko ulit ang sarili sa mga files at meetings.
"Hija. When will have our occular visit sa site ng bagong condo na itatayo." Tito Alfred ask after the meeting with the investors.
"I'll have it scheduled Tito. Rose will inform your secretary for the date." tugon ko sa kanya.
"Okay, hija. By the way how's your mom? Hindi na daw nakakadalaw ang tita Bianca mo sa kanya." pangangamusta niya.
"She's fine Tito. Coping up." I said as I packed my things.
"That's good. Might visit her soon." tatango-tangong wika ni Tito palabas ng conference room.
Pinaayos ko na agad kay Rose ang schedule ng pag-visit sa site at pina-inform ko na din ang mga engineers sa site visit na mangyayari.
My whole week is packed of meetings. Kung hindi sa office, ay sa restaurant ang venue. Medyo nakakapagod din mag drive pabalik balik sa office.
"Rose, nga pala clear my sched sa 23." pagpapaalala ko sa kanya.
"Sa wakas naman ay naisipan mo ng mag bakasyon kahit papaano." ngiti niya sa akin.
"Baka gusto mong gawing one week?" pahabol pa niya.
"Masyadong maraming trabaho tsaka hindi ko naman alam kung mag eenjoy ako doon." tugon ko sa kanya habang ang mga mata ko ay nasa laptop.
Bigla niyang sinara ang laptop ko, "Tara. Dinner tayo." yaya niya sa akin.
Mukhang wala akong choice kundi ang sumama sa kanya. Hinintay niya talaga ang pagtayo ko at pagaayos ng gamit.
"Saan tayo kakain?" tanong ko sa kanya pagpasok sa sasakyan.
"Dito." sabay pakita ng cellphone niya sa akin.
I start the engine and drive to the restaurant she suggests.
As we entered the restaurant, I saw familiar faces from afar. I kept my gaze on their spot until we reached it.
"Mama?" takang tanong ko
Napalingon si Mama ng marinig ang tawag ko ganun din sila ate Jana at ang mga anak niya.
"Bakit kayo nandito?" tanong ko ulit pagkamano at beso ko sa kanya.
"Isn't it obvious?" singit ni ate Jana sa amin.
"Tumawag ako kay Rose para yayain ka mag dinner. Surprise!" dagdag pa ni ate Jana
"Anong meron?" I asked again when the waiter served the food.
"Alex, ano daw meron?" baling ni ate sa panganay niya.
"Good news tita Jae." pagsisimula niya.
"Don't tell me you have a boyfriend?" I glared at her
She just laugh. "Ikaw kailan ka magpapakilala sa amin?" biglang singit ni Mama.
I was caught off guard when Mama said that. Ate Jana laugh even Rose and Alex.
"I'm busy Mama and I'm not the topic here," I said looking at her, trying not to laugh.
"Of course not, tita. I am top 2. Kyle got in also. Ella and Marcus are doing good in school." pagpapaliwanag pa niya.
"That's good to hear then. And that's also mean shopping?" I said.
It is my way to motivate them just as Papa motivates me.
"Yes! Can we go after dinner? I want the new shoes from Adidas." Alex exclaimed.
Natawa naman ako kay Alex. Nang matapos ang pagkain namin ay dumiretso na kami sa SM North. Pinahatid ko na din si Rose sa driver nila Mama dahil ako na ang maghahatid sa kanila sa bahay.
Pagpasok sa store ng Adidas ay tumakbo papunta doon sa tapat ng shoes na gusto niya. She grab it and try it on.
"Is that what you want? Is it fit?" tanong ko pagkalapit sa kanya. It is an Adidas Superstar shoe with the collaboration of Mickey Mouse.
"Yes, tita. It fits perfectly." masayang tugon niya sa akin habang tinitignan ang reflection sa salamin.
Nagsukat pa ng iba si Alex maging si Kyle. Si Ella at Marcus naman ay may ibang gustong bilhin. Right after I paid for the shoes. Ella pulls me inside the Hush Puppies store. She got herself Bailey Velcro shoes while Marcus got his DC Batman action figure from the Toy Kingdom.
Naglibot libot pa kami bago nag-desisyong umuwi na sila Mama.
"By the way, Ma. Tito Alfred and Tita Bianca will visit you." sabi ko sa kanya.
Tumango lang siya bilang tugon. I drive them to Rizal where our house is.
"Hindi ka na ba papasok muna?" aya ni ate Jana sa akin.
Tinignan ko muna ang bahay bago tumugon kay ate Jana. "No. It's getting late na din. I have meeting tomorrow morning."
"Tita visit us again huh," Alex said before getting out of my car.
"Sure. But not this weekend." I said while I kissed Mama on her cheeks.
"Why? May out of the country meeting ka ba?" tanong ni ate Jana
"Nope. It's a class reunion. College." sagot ko sa kanya.
"Okay. Text me when you got home. Drive safely." bilin niya sa akin bago makapasok sa bahay.
I waited until they got inside the house before going.
