On the day after she turned 18, Mary had a visit from Jake.
He had just been to see the sailors and heard rumors of a real live dragon.
It was living in a cave in the north mountains.
Jake wanted Mary to come with him to find, catch and train it.
Mary was very excited and run to find her parents.
The King and Queen were a little scared for their only daughter, but they trusted her and Jake so they agreed to the quest.
Mary and Jake set off across the great lake on a ship, to find the black dragon with shimmering, rainbow wings.
Once they crossed the lake it was a long walk up the mountain, but Mary and Jake didn't mind because they were on an adventure.
It wasn't long before the two friends reached the dragons cave, it was very deep and very dark and VERY scary.
Jake got out a scrap of cloth, while Mary found a thick stick. They wrapped the cloth around one end and set fire to it, they went into the cave, their new torch in hand.
