It was the day of Mary's 16th birthday and she was very excited.
She had bought a beautiful dress.
It was bright blue and sparkly all over.
The thing that Mary was most happy about though, was that she got to see Jake.
Jake had been away for two years chasing an evil pirate.
Now that the pirate had been caught and put in jail, Jake could visit Mary again.
It was night time when the ball started and lots of people had already arrived.
The trumpets 'tooted' and everyone looked at the stairs to the ballroom.
Their mouths all fell open as Mary walked in, she was the most beautiful girl any of them had ever seen.
She walked down the stairs and the music started again.
Mary's parents gave her a big hug and a kiss and told her to have fun and dance with her friends.
Mary had danced and laughed with all her friends for hours, when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
She turned around and screamed. It was JAKE! He had made it to her party and was standing in front of her.
Mary gave him the biggest, squeeziest hug ever.
Jake laughed and hugged her back, they spent the rest of the night together laughing and dancing and joking with each other.
