The night air was cool and a slight breeze brought the sweet scent of lotus blossoms as a figure moved quietly about his room. His big brown eyes searched the room until they finally landed on the small black cat that had found her preferred resting place.

"You want your bed here, Mau?" the young man asked, waiting for a sound of assent before the bundle of soft bedding was put in place. A small bowl for water and food were placed nearby.

The young man looked around, satisfied that his new home was as well organized and inviting as he could make it. He headed to the small kitchen and prepared some food for himself and his little friend. They shared a quiet meal before sitting down to rest. Mau groomed herself carefully, as was her custom, and watched her friend take off his shirt before sitting on the couch.

The young man stretched his wings, letting them out for the first time in the human world. His beautiful creamy white chest was bare, and he enjoyed the feel of the breeze on his skin. He brushed his soft brown hair back from his face and his full pink lips turned up in a contented smile. He read for awhile, enjoying the quiet and the night air from the open balcony door. When he began to feel tired, he prepared himself for bed, then closed the balcony door and said to the room in general, "Until tomorrow."

He got into bed, happily pulling his soft blanket up to his chest. He turned out the last light and closed his eyes.

"Home," he said quietly, savoring the sound. "Sleep, my little Mau. Tomorrow will be a busy day."

"Wake up!" The shout rang through the walls, dragging Pha, kicking and screaming from his sleep. He looked at his clock. 7 AM? Why would anyone wake him up this early in the morning?

"Get up, Pha!" Another shout came from the hall just as his phone started ringing. Picking it up and kicking his covers off angrily, he walked to his door in the boxers and t-shirt that he wore to bed.

"What do you want?" The tall, handsome man asked into the phone just as he opened the door to see both Beam and Kit standing outside, his voice echoing back at him from Kit's phone.

"What took you so long?" Beam asked, pushing past Pha to walk into his room.

"I was trying to call you," Kit said, embarrassed as he followed his friend inside, "but Beam thought it was taking too long."

"Wonderful," Pha said, his voice heavy with sleep and sarcasm. "But why are you forcing me out of bed so early?"

He shut the door and turned on the coffee maker, he couldn't handle Beam this early in the morning without some coffee.

"You don't remember?" Beam asked, throwing himself on the couch, a mischievous smile on his face.

"If I remembered, would I be asking you?" Pha asked, his patience wearing thin.

"Is the coffee ready?" Beam asked, starting to play a game on his phone, he ignored his friend's grumpiness. Kit sat down next to Beam on the couch and rolled his eyes at his friend. Beam never seemed to understand the concept of being polite.

"Tell me why you woke me up so early when I don't have class or get out of my room," Pha said, standing in front of his two friends.

"Geez, grumpy much?" Beam asked, finally seeming to notice his friend's mood. "You're supposed to be at freshman orientation today."

Pha looked at his friends incredulously, did they really expect him to attend the orientation? What would he even do there, stand around and look handsome? After a moment, he asked his friends exactly that.

"You have to go, Pha," Kit said. He heard the coffee maker finish its work. After filling a mug with hot coffee, a little bit of cream, and a teaspoon of sugar, he brought it to Pha, hoping to calm him. "You're the Campus Moon. They're expecting you."
