An Overview of Angels

As I've been writing this, I realize that some people might be confused by my little vision of how the Heavens work and the roles of all the angels. I wanted to clear some of that up, since I think my fun Wikipedia references might not be helpful to everyone. I want to also clarify that none of this is taken from one source or religious affiliation. This is just bits and pieces that I've read and twisted to fit my story. While I am Christian, this story does not reflect any one religion and I am not an authority on angels, god, or religious practices.

I just think the idea of angels is beautiful and magical, so I used it for my story. If you're offended by my use of religious terms for any reason, I don't think that one story on Wattpad has the power to shake your foundations, so let's all be calm and agree to disagree. I say Merry Christmas, you say Happy Holidays, or Happy Hanukkah, or Season's Greetings, or even fuck off, but really we all just want to live in this world together and try to remember to share the love and forget the hate. So I hope even if you don't believe in angels or god, you can still enjoy the story.

Regardless, this chapter is to clear some things up about the roles of angels and how the world in this story was formed. This isn't the same version of heaven or angels and demons that I might write in another world of my own creation, it's just how it worked this time. I've written part of it like a story, because it's a story I made up with some obvious inspirational sources. The rest is just how I decided the roles of the angels would be.

To tell the story any further, we must go back to a time before time. When the Earth was simply matter waiting to be formed and the numberless concourses of angels filled the Heavens. Lucifer sat on the right hand of God. He was handsome, intelligent, strong, and beloved by his Father, but still the Heavens held no joy for him.

The Father formed the Earth, preparing both the night and the day, the land and the sea, and all of varieties of life to fill the Earth. After the Earth was prepared, He formed man in His own image. The Father loved His mortal children, and gave them the Earth for their home. But Lucifer became jealous of the Father's love for the mortals.

Lucifer convinced many angels that the mortals were keeping their God from his duties in Heaven. Lucifer insisted that God must leave the mortals and return to the Heavens but man was still new and God had much to teach them. And so the war in Heaven began.

It wasn't much of a war, some might even call it a family squabble. But the end result was that Lucifer fought with his Father and in his anger, he abandoned the Heavens. Much like a child who does not get what he wants and runs away from home. Lucifer became the very first Fallen Angel. Some fell with him, becoming Fallen as well, but Lucifer was the first.

Lucifer could find no peace on Earth, for his angelic brothers and sisters were constantly telling him to return home and apologize to dad. So he turned away from both Heaven and Earth to form his own world and called it Hell.

As time passed, more angels fell. The Fallen found they could still use their Celestial powers but as Fallen, their mortal bodies no longer had the strength to sustain those abilities. Some stopped using their powers and became more and more like humans. Some worked to return to Heaven and regained their powers. And still others found what Lucifer had realized when he formed Hell. Not all the powers come from Heaven. These Fallen turned their back on Heaven entirely and began to draw from the corrupted powers of Hell. These gave birth to Demons. And Demons gave birth to sin.*
