Ever since running into Ushijima on the first day and receiving directions from him, we've slowly started hanging out together more and more. Around school, I bump into him occasionally and we talk about, well, normal things. It's been nice, slowly getting to know him. I've learned that he's a third year, and the ace/captain of the volleyball team at that. (Reader-Chan is a 2nd year btw). The more I get to know him, the more intrigued I become. He's the strong silent type, but he cares deeply about his peers. He reminds me of a big innocent puppy in a lot of ways...

Approaching the lunch line at school, I stare in boredom at my phone, debating if I should bug one of my friends from back home. Instead I just sigh and flip my phone off before continuing to wait in line. To be honest, I've really enjoyed going to Shiratorizawa. The only downfall is that I have practically no friends. Since I transferred in the middle of the year, everyone already has their own clicks and friend groups, which leaves me the odd man out.

Finally getting to the front of the line, I grab some melon and curry buns before paying and heading out to the courtyard where I usually eat. It's quiet and nice there, which allows me to escape from the annoying conversations of my fellow high schoolers, who usually happen to be talking about romance or drama, or something along those lines.

As I approach my usual bench, I happen see someone has already taken that spot, but not just anyone, Ushijima.

"Hi there, Ushijima-senpai," I say, causing him to flinch and turn around to look at me.

"Hello," he calmly replies before continuing to eat his bento.

I take a seat next to him on the bench, and begin eating my bread, a heavily silence falling on the two of us. In all honesty, I wish I could just talk to him and learn everything about him. He seems like the pretty boring type on the outside, but I feel like he has something hidden deeper in him, a side he never shows to people.

"(Y/N)-san," he says, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Yes, Ushijima-senpai?" You ask.

He sighs, looking a little bit nervous before he quickly says, "w-would you like to come watch my volleyball practice this afternoon? We're playing a practice game, so I thou-."

"Sure." I respond, cutting him off.

His face softens, and I notice a tiny blush blooming across his features, "o-okay, I'll see you there then..."

I giggle a little bit, startling him, "pfft, Ushijima-senpai, you're weird."

His blush suddenly grows much larger, and he just stares at me, confused and slightly offended.

I just wave my hand to him, "I don't mean that in a bad way at all though... I think your weirdness is kind of.... cute? So like a cute weird... I guess." I say before returning to eating my bread.

His face still holds a slight blush, obviously embarrassed from being called cute, but he brushes it off as well and continues eating.

When lunch ends, he quickly stands, muttering a quick, "see you at the practice," before he makes his way back into the school building as I just watch his retreating and embarrassed form.
