"Well said," said Anastasia, "Beauty is rarely soft or consolatory. Quite the contrary. Genuine beauty is always quite alarming."
He looked at Amethyst, her face bright in the sun, enhancing her beauty, her eyes shining.
"And if beauty is terror," said Julian, "then what is desire? We think we have many desires but in fact we only have one. What is it?"
"To live," Amethyst said quietly, as she looked at them, Elijah specifically
"To live forever," said Elijah, a smile forming
She finally spoke to him, it might not have been directly to him but she still spoke.
This was an achievement, he felt as if he just won a trophyㅡ no, this was better than a trophy.
