  • Dedicated to the victim of angry parents

Because they yell at you,

They say those dreadful things,

Like "you're not good enough",

And "you need to suck it up".

So when it comes time for bed,

You settle in those frigid sheets,

Clenching them between your fists,

And tucking your head behind the pillow,

As your parents unleash their anger in another room.

They're mad at you,

You're a failure to them,

Atleast that's what you think.

You let tears run down your cheeks,

They soak your pillow,

You try to muffle the sob,

But it only grows harder to keep it in,

All the fear, the shame, the sadness,

It consumes you.

Even when you try your hardest,

Even when you try your best,

They say it'll do,

But they never accept you.

These material things,

They seem important,

More important than you.

You wonder why?

Why they chose to bring you into this life,

When all they bicker about it wanting you to die.

They say you're weak,

One of them yells at the other,

Comparing you to your mother,

Stubborn and useless,

No good for anything.

You let out you cries for help,

Letting them drown and evaporate into the pillow,

They never hear you when you speak,

You say you need something,

But they just tell you to fix it,

Or ignore you.

The next morning you set off,

Making plans for the night to come,

Depression swells in you like a disease,

Tendencies pulling at your strings.

You're sick of it,

So when night time hits,

You close your eyes and say goodbye,

Because this time you'll be able to sleep peacefully,

Away from the screams,

And finally surrounded by blissful dreams.
