I remember the day when Alexi showed me fire lights. I laughed. He smiled. Then he put a stick in the fire and the end became a giant torch. He started shaking the stick and little sparks went flying. It lit the night sky up. I was only three, in 1928, and Alexi was six.

We know nothing about what happened before us. Mum and Dad says it is not important. But knowing now what happened I feel really scared about the Soviet Union's future.

Then it happened. A few years later another war came. I am seventeen now and living through the second war but my family is torn as my brother Alexi is off fighting and my dad well I haven't seen him in ages.

Mum says it for the good that he left, but Alexi is off fighting and I'm here now just watching for the war to come to Russia.

Everyone says that "Fear is the only thing to Fear." But that is wrong. I feel my whole life is going terribly. One day, I get more drama and violence in less then a few hours.

This is my story of the second war and how I nearly died.
