change

you and I

we changed around each other

as I grew taller and your hair grew longer

as I stopped thinking of you as a brother

it's been 8 years

and you and I have always fit

like the perfect rhyme

and I admit

that I sometimes pushed you away

and I admire you

for always finding your way back to me

and I always found my way to you too

other friends, they came and went

as we changed and our stories ended

but not you

every broken moment we always mended

and now I think we fit better

than we ever have before

and even though we're both different now

I think what we have now is even more

so I'm glad we changed

and I'm glad I never lost you to it

and, as lovely and strange

I wouldn't change you one bit.
