Recap:
Humans were manipulative and impossible to trust or dependable. People would always leave. Some, -like my father- would use others for their own personal gain.

I was done.

No more subdoing my true feelings and acting like someone is going to sweep in out of nowhere and cary me off to some BS fairytale. Reality was a cold hard place with cold hearted humans that judge and manipulate the weak.

My life was a tragic story and apparently I just reached the worst part of it. But I wasn't going to be another stepping stone or another pathetic person that gets thrown away.

Wherever the hell I ended up I would survive. I had a new driving force. Rage. Full blown out anger at the world.

Nobody in their right mind went into the Mallume forest that bordered our small town to the east.

No one.

Not unless they had a death wish they craved to be granted.

The forest was thick and dense. Known to hold wild animals and even rumored of ferocious beast. All tales I'd never used to believe until I saw cold hard proof in front of me.

That was when we were still a family, growing up here before dad started gambling and mom left. Of going to school and hearing stories of these very woods.

I even remember sometime around my fifth birthday. There had been a huge crowd in the town square after three teenagers wondered too deep into the woods.

Nobody knows why or what they were doing. Yet all that was ever found of them was a shredded bloody shirt and their burned to a crisp- incinerated remains. All scattered in tiny heaps in the city park like a scene from a horror film.

I remember the adults sending us kids inside as the police and sheriff arrived to the scene. I remember the image of the mangled bodies after I had snuck out to see why there was so much screaming and panic.

I remember looking up from the bodies to meet those eyes. Those flashing brilliant gold eyes of a boy by the forest looking right at me.

His disarrayed clothing and the piercing golden gaze instantly captured me.

He had looked a year or two older than my 5 years. With dark midnight black hair and blood trickling on a cut bruise on his lips. I vaguely remember details about that day  yet what I could never forget were those striking golden eyes.

So incredibly sad and filled with so much hatred and pain.

His head arched to the side as our eyes stayed locked in a curious gesture as those eyes flared and he flashed sharp bloodstained teeth. His features shifting yo become harsher and predatory.

I quickly flinch back, shocked at the sudden monstrosity that consumed his features.

Another boy appeared next to him, not quite noticing me but with the same features and quickly dragged him away, getting lost in the crowded chaos.

I never saw them again.

My mother had appeared shortly after, dragging me home and scolded me for not going indoors like all the other kids. She'd been so angry. That was the first time she'd hit me. A clear good smack on my cheek that had me stumbling back and onto my rear in shock and pain.

Little had I known then that that would be only the biggining of how twisted and mangled my life would become.

But the images of that scene were still marred into my mind till this day. What in a forest would burn a human being - three of them - to the point where skin disintegrated off their bones? So much that all that was left was chalky pale white bones and patches of bloody flesh not consumed by the flames?
