Nate held my hand in his as we emerged from the woods, making sure to give it an encouraging squeeze as the exit became clear. 'Your brother is still here' he whispered to my wolf, sounding indifferent by Trent's presence.

I nodded my head as I scooted by body even closer to his just wanting to feel his warming presence. Moments later the trees became scarce as my brother's silver pick up truck came into view though I didn't spot him. Honestly, I was glad Trent decided to hang around maybe there was hope for him and Nate. Scanning the area in search of my brother I quickly spotted him on the porch steps sitting next to a familiar small blonde.

"Nate!" Annabelle screamed jumping up on the stairs before hopping over them. Her outburst caused Trent's head to snap up in our direction. Quickly Annabelle tore off in our direction. Regretfully Nate dropped my hand in order to grab her small waist that was now flying through the air. I couldn't help but smile at there relationship it was nothing short of cute.

We continued our walk toward Trent which was only another ten feet or so. Nate shifted Annabelle to his bare side in order to hold my hand again. Peeking around Nate's shaggy blonde mess she waved her small hand from side to side while flashing me a cheeky grin. "Hi Annabelle" I greeted politely causing her to grow even happier.

"Hi Luna- I mean Jamie" she quickly corrected with a shy blush. "I met your brother... He's like your twin!" She squealed her eyes darting back to Trent who was now standing up and leaning against the banister.

"I wouldn't say twins" Nate interjected "Jamie is much prettier" she cooed lifting our entangled fingers in order to kiss the back of my hand.

"Are you better now?" She whispered not so quietly as she squirmed to get lose from Nate's hold. Dropping her feet he placed her back on the ground only for her to skip over to Trent. "He was mad earlier" she informed him in the same tone as she took a stance next to him.

"Yes, I'm all better" Nate assured her sneaking a glance at my profile before maneuvering his body so I was shielding him. Protectively he wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me farther into him before burying his face in the crook of my neck. Inhaling deeply he took in a big whiff of my signature scent which only scent his wolf into a state of pure bliss.

"Any way," Trent sang out "are you alright?" He questioned locking his gaze with mine in an attempt to pretend that Nate wasn't right here. I nodded my head though as he pursed his lips I knew he didn't believe me. What did he expect? I can't just get over the fact that my chosen mate and my best friend have lied to me for weeks in order to conceal their darkest secret. "I can make him leave if you want..." He trailed awkwardly referring to Carter leaving my old pack house.

Trent's statement seemed to shock Nate who instantly stiffened. Slowly he lifted his head from it's safe nook and shifted it between the two of us while he awaited my answer. "No" I murmured my voice coming out scratchy. Letting out a small sigh Nate followed in suit with Trent and stood up tall showing off his massive size. Peering over my shoulders I met his turquoise eyes which reeked of displeasure. "I'm sorry."

Without speaking Nate turned my body so I was now facing him. He reached up and grabbed my chin forcing me to continue to look directly into his powerful eyes. "You have nothing to feel sorry about" he assured him using an assertive tone. Though, I couldn't help but feel guilty. One minute I wanted to removed Carter from the world and the next I didn't want him alone. My confused feelings for him were only hurting my relationship with Nate.
