Chapter 4: The Tour

"You're dead."

I sat there, starring at her like she was crazy.

"Wait, what? Really?"

Alice sighed then nodded. She looked sorry for me.

I was far too confused to be sad. I felt motionless and weak. I was too scared of what Alice said. I got headache thinking about it. "Then, how am I here?"

Alice sighed one more time, but this time it sounded like a sigh of relief. "Follow me."

Alice, Ms. John and Ms. Little all helped pull me up. I fell over, back onto the bed.

"Why can't I walk?" I felt like an idiot asking this.

"Here. I'll explain it all during the tour." Alice handed me a pair of crutches. I took them, leaned against them, stood up and started hopping. Did I really need to walk like this?

Alice waved to Ms. John and Ms. Little, then guided me out the big, white door in the corner of the room. I literally gasped. It was a large white room, with no ceiling, so you could see the sky. There were loads of people, mostly young people, running around, all of them wearing white. There were dozens of doors lining the walls. There was a large white monitor in the right side of the room, and beside it stood a mirror. As I was taking this all in, Alice "walked" me towards the mirror.

"As you may already know because of the name, Angel Academy is a school where "diseased" people continue their studies before getting sent to Heaven. You must graduate to get sent to Heaven or become a teacher here. This means having a B average."

"What if I don't?" I quivered. I was a C average.

"Well you go to-" she pointed at the ground.

It took me a moment to figure out what she meant. Hell? Was that like a swear word or something here? I knew it wasn't polite to say it anywhere, but if I had to say it, like in church or something, I would.

"Underworld?" I suggested.

"Something like that." She turned around and motioned towards the mirror.

"Could you please turn around?"

"Oh. Ok."

I did what she asked. At first, I didn't notice anything, besides crutches. Until-

"This isn't your real body. Your real body is still on earth, you know-dead." She looked uncomfortable saying that, but she just continued, "We had to reconstruct your body as best as we could. Then, Ms. Little, who's a doctor here, placed your soul inside your body, but we had a little-um-Incident when constructing your legs. That should be temporary."

I hoped so. I didn't want Alice escorting me everywhere.

"We also layered your hair, removed all pimples and other blemishes and, removed braces and contacts," she smiled.

Wow. She was right. My dark hair was much prettier now, and the daily breakouts that I got were just plain annoying. Same with no contacts and braces. My smile seemed perfect. I looked amazing. Minus the possibly broken legs.

As I was admiring myself, Alice pulled me over to the computer monitor. It was gigantic, and the screen was probably as tall as me. I watched Alice typed away at the computer. She put a card in front of the monitor. The computer scanned the card, then said in a deep voice, "Welcome, Alice Roberts." She typed more, then the computer said, "Searching for Nicole Andrews." Suddenly, my name popped up on the screen. "Found Nicole Andrews."

The screen showed my information such as gender, age, grade and look. There was a picture of me beside all the info.

Name: Nicole Isabella Andrews

Age: 13

Grade: 8

Date of Birth: 05/26/1997

Eyes: Brown

Hair: Brown

Height: 5'0

Weight: 90lb

Alice typed more, and more information popped up:

Death Date: 10/31/2010

Cause of Death: Car Crash w/Drunk Driver

Others at Death: Ashley Howards, Brian Howards

Condition of Ashley: Alive, broken wrist.

Condition of Brian: Unknown

WHAT? So Brian was drunk the whole time? I should have saw it coming. Brian was acting really odd in the car, and because of one foolish mistake-I'm here? I started crying. I didn't even care that Brian could possibly be dead. He deserved it. At least Ashley was fine.

Alice saw that I was crying, and said, "Maybe we should continue tomorrow? I'll take you to your room, if you want."

I nodded, and with that, Alice showed me where my room was. Room number 3823.

"We'll continue tomorrow. Do you want me to just come back here?" She asked.

I sniffed, and nodded. I couldn't speak. My room was white, with a bed, a bathroom and a dresser in it. That was it. All I could in there was fall asleep, which took me hours. I was lost in my thoughts. Why was he drunk? He was just at a school dance. How could someone sneak alcohol into that? And Ash? Was she going to be fine without me? And my family? They are going to be so sad. And-and-and. I felt like a puzzle, with most the pieces missing. I was praying this was a dream-was it?
