“Lexi? Lexi wake up.”

Someone was shaking me awake. I didn’t know who and I didn’t know why. I just knew that I was tired and I wanted to sleep.

After we got home from the not so fun trip to the E.R., Bryce was awake for another two hours so I was awake until almost six in the morning.

“Go away,” I threw my blankets over my head and turned to my side.

“Lexi, come on. Wake up. What was wrong with Bryce last night? I just got your text this morning.”

I now realized that it was John trying to wake me up.

I slowly sat up, my eyes still closed, “Last night he was crying really badly and running a fever so we decided to take him to the E.R. Before we left, his ear drum ruptured.”

“What? And you didn’t call me?” He spun in a circle, “What’s up with that? I’m his father!”

“Calm down John. He’s ok. The doctor gave him some antibiotics and he should feel better within a few days. Now can you please go downstairs and watch TV or something? I’m tired,” I looked at the clock and saw that it was only 8:15, “I’ve only been asleep for 2 hours.”

“Yeah, alright. I’ll go watch TV.”

“Oh, and if one of the twins starts to cry, you’re going to get them for me aren’t you?” I asked, almost pleading with him.

“Of course I will,” he smiled.

“Thank you,” I laid back down in my bed and instantly fell asleep.

“Good afternoon sleepy head,” Mom said.

“Hi mom. Is there something that I can eat? I’m starving.”

“Yeah, in the fridge. I made veggie pizza for lunch and saved the leftover pieces for you. Oh, and I’m making strawberry pie right now so make sure you save room for that.”

“Ok, I definitely will.”

I pulled the pizza out of the fridge. It had small pieces of broccoli, tomatoes, carrots, celery, and olives. I don’t like olives so I pulled those off and threw them in the trash.

I got a paper plate and heated it up, then I went to the kitchen table to eat.

“Hey, I see you finally got up,” John said.

“Yeah. How were the babies while I was sleeping?”

“They were good.”

“That’s good.”
