Part Six

Back in London Amy Dreier shook her head.

"You're sure he's gone", she asked Caleb McDrer, an expert in Ancient Folklore & Mythological Creatures.

"Yes, a lot of weird happenings have happened since the Dungeon opened. O' course, The London Dungeon is one of England's most haunted tourist attractions. See that old 'Most Haunted' episode. Very bloody spooky. 'Course, they're fake y'see. 'Cept for some of the lads on the show. Too many fakers in the Industry for anyone to say, 'This is real; this is not real'. Of course, such behavior is not tolerated in London".

"What kind of weird..?".

"Do you believe in Vampires?", he enquired.

"Yes, and other creatures".

"Like?".

"The Loch Ness Monster in Scotland; Big Foot in North America; ghosts; demons. And bean sí. Or The Banshee in Irish folklore...

"...My brother Martin vanished", she added.

She showed him a picture of them at her 11th birthday party in 2007.

"I've seen him. Visits the Vampire clubs".

"Yeah. Can you tell me where he was going?".

"No. Kids these days are interested in the Dungeon Vampires Tour".

"I heard you have to be 13 years and over to go there. And it's at Midnight because that's The Witching Hour".

"Yes. And he got in illegally. Or paid an exorbitant fee to go".

"Sometimes there's nothing I...you...or Scotland Yard can do to stop these Tours happen. It's all for the money".

"Stuff the money. I want the truth".

"The truth is often mired in false truths". He lit up a pipe.

"Isn't there a 'No Smoking' sign here in the...".

"I'm sure girl when you're 72 years' old, you can do what the hell you like". He heard her groan. Then, once the foul smell wafted away from her face, she continued talking to the owner. Her long, black hair glistened in the dim store, as the bell rang outside the front entrance...and other customers arrived to shop.

The boy gazed  at the girl.

His eyes seemed to follow her; seeking her.

He saw the elderly book owner, then stopped.

Three book readers were in the "HORROR SECTION". They were Emo Goth teens who had "I hat8 Twilight" T-shirts on; wore pins in their mouths...and earrings in their ears. Some were attempting to find the Elizabeth Bathory books; some were attempting to access Anne Rice; some were attempting to access Bram Stoker books; some were accessing Sheridan LeFanu..."That's in the gay Vampire section", Caleb smirked.

"Vampires are asexual", a boy said.

"That my child is a falsehood".

"Look, Old Man, I know things. There's a Servant of a Royal Vampire Princess. I read it in a old book on UK Vampiric Folklore by Roger Myger-Davies".

"I've heard about that obscure author", Amy said.

"You have?".

"Yes. He's my Uncle".

"No way".

"Yes, way".

"Listen kids, are all of you buying books? We have E-books on Kindle on Vampires, the occult, the supernatural, and hexing your girlfriends or boyfriends".

"Wow. We'd like some on Elizabeth Bathory...and Stoker...And Anne Rice".

"We have also rare books in hardcover on werewolves".

"Maybe another time".

"Here's £40", the Emo Goth girl said in a Scottish accent.

"Because you lads and ladies went here...it's half off. £20. Plus a Book Readers Club of the UK brochure to keep young people reading like J K Rowling did with 'Harry Potter'". Caleb gave the kids a wave, as he made the sell as he sat down on the mahogany chair in the middle of the store's front entrance.

"John, we need to go to Shaun's house".

"Kelly, they don't need to know that".

"When we get Independence from the English we'll be free".

"Yeah, then we can elope".

"You kids can't elope. You're both look 14".

"So", they said together.

"So, the poltical situation in the UK is at boiling point. There's going to be blood on the Glasgow streets".

"And London".

"Excatly. Wait and see".

"We''re goth Vampires. There's an Undergroond movement in London an' Glasgaw. And we're jist explorin' th' rich culture, loch we saw in America, Canada, an' Australia". She smiled at Amy. Then at Caleb...Then back to her boyfriend...while their other Emo goth friends opened the door, "...

Guid cheerio th' noo!".

"Good bye!", Caleb said.

And the group headed out of the book store...as Amy shivered.

(Partial English translation of  the Scottish)

"We're goth Vampires. There's an Underground movement in London and Glasgow. And we're just exploring the rich culture, like we saw in America, Canada, and Australia", Kelly said.

"Good bye!", Caleb waved...as they left the book store.
