Ellery's POV

I woke up sore and tired, remembering the beating I received last night I got out of bed and walked to the mirror. Looking in the mirror I noticed about five medium-size bruises along my arms and legs. Pulling my shirt up a little I noticed one large bruise on my side.

"Not bad, it could be worse," I said to myself. I changed out of my pj's and put on a white sundress with a light yellow ribbon belt with a bow at the back. I also grabbed a grey cardigan and headed downstairs to start my chores.

I had finished all my yard work yesterday so I just had to clean the house, make the beds, and make breakfast. Once everything was done I grabbed my stuff and began my morning walk. I left earlier today so I would be on time. I managed to get to class just as the bell rang. Mr O Brian gave me a high five and I took my seat.

Every day at lunch after my friends and I are finished eating we go outside. Today we decided to go for a walk through the forest. We walked for about five minutes in and decided to go across and explore. We found a tree with a hollowed-out middle and we decided to call it our hunger games tree. I decided to climb it and at about ten feet up I stopped and sat looking out at the world. I could see the ocean from up here, I could see recess at the elementary school, and town. But I could also see a barn? I began to climb back down when I slipped, I managed to grab onto a branch but it quickly snapped. I was terrified I didn't know what to do was this it was I going to die? Just before I reached the ground I felt a pair of strong muscular arms around me. As I opened my eyes I looked up into the deepest green eyes ever. The world seemed to stop around us, I couldn't help but stair. Moments later I was pulled out of my trance and pulled back to reality. I took in my surroundings remembering the fall I had just taken and the arms and eyes. I frantically searched for those eyes and found them. I looked at who they belonged to, light brown hair, freckles, muscular, and tall. He was at least a head taller than me, he looked to be 18.

"Thanks," I said.

"You're welcome" he responded. His voice was music to my ears it gave me chills in a good way. My thoughts were interrupted by Annabelle's questioning.

"Hi, I'm Annabelle what's your name?" She drove me crazy sometimes.

"Nice to meet you I'm Blake." I looked at Blake shyly and noticed for the first time that he was shirtless. He had an eight pack and a v-dip, his arms were ripped and his legs were too.

"Earth to Ree" Adrian called.

"Sorry um I guess I blanked for a sec," I said trying to seem like I wasn't just totally checking Blake out.

"If I didn't know better." Hunter began and I quickly put my hand over his mouth. Shutting him up I let go of his mouth. Blake stood there staring at me with a smile on his face, it was one of the most amazing smiles ever.

"Well I have to go," Blake said. I frowned not realizing I was smiling or that I had frowned.

"Why?" I said almost whinging. Blake ignored my question and turned to leave, but before he could I unknowingly grabbed his arm.

"Will I see you again?" I asked.

"Yes" was his response. With that, he left vanishing into the forest. Once he was out of my sight I turned and saw four shocked faces. Lily broke the silence giggling hysterically I couldn't help but laugh with her soon enough we were all laughing and hugging and walking back to school. On the way back I thought of all the questions I had. Who was he? Where did he come from? What was he doing in the forest alone? Why was he so special? And before I fell the question about the barn where was it? And what was inside? School ended rather quickly and as soon as it did I decided that later that night I would go looking for that barn.

Blake's POV

I was silently watching her from the bushes, I watched her climb a nearby tree. She was so beautiful her perfectly curly hair shone in the sunlight, it almost seemed as if tiny flames danced around her hair. She sat near the top of the tree for a while just looking out at the world. She began to climb back down the tree when she started to fall. I jumped out from the bush and caught her, she had her eyes closed but slowly opened them. She looked up at me and our eyes met her piercing blue eyes looking deep into my green ones. My heart fluttered as she smiled up at me. I set her down not wanting to let go but having to. She stared at me examining everything, I smiled at her but she didn't seem to notice. One of her friends broke the silence telling me her name and asking for mine. I looked at Ellery and said my name, I watched as Ellery got goosebumps. I had to get back so I said my goodbyes but was stopped by a faint whine. I looked at her then turned and began to leave but before I could she grabbed my arm and asked if she would ever see me again I told her the truth knowing that when she turned she would be a part of my pack. I made my way through the bush and took off. There was something about her that  was addicting, when I was holding her I had to force my self to let go. Was she my mate? I prayed to the Goddess she was. I wanted to be hers forever and her to be mine. The thing I didn't understand was why I felt this way she was still a pup. Until she went through the change I wouldn't know for sure. I desperately wanted her birthday to be soon.

Ellery's POV

On my way home from school, all I could think about was Blake, he's all I could think about all day. I did all my chores with a smile plastered to my face even when my dad hit me I just couldn't stop. After dinner I ran to my room I changed out of my sundress and packed my things for my hike. Before I left I looked in the mirror and like always my bruises had vanished for some reason I healed remarkably fast. I snuck out the kitchen door and headed towards the school. Once there I followed the path my friends and I had taken earlier that day. I climbed the tree again this time being more careful. I saw the barn it was east of the tree. I climbed down and began to head east, it was about a thirty-minute walk from the tree to the barn. I stood outside the old building just staring. I finally built up enough nerve and opened the huge sliding door. It was dark inside so I grabbed my flashlight and slowly walked in. It smelt funny almost like wet dog. As I looked around I spotted a shadow, I spun around and saw a tall dark figure I quickly shone my light on it and jumped.

"Sorry I didn't mean to frighten you," Blake said. I ran at him and jumped into his arms shoving my face into his neck. I felt him wrap his arms around me and pull me closer holding me tight and rubbing my back.

"It's okay it's just me beautiful its just me." He whispered. At the mention of him calling me beautiful I began to sob I didn't know why I was being so stupid. I looked up at him and he kissed my forehead, wiped my tears and then picked me up bridal style. On our way to wherever I drifted off to sleep and fell limp in Blake's arms.
