Ever since I was young, I've always quite enjoyed the outdoors. The smell of the fresh air mixed with pine trees always caused a feeling of tranquility in me that nothing else can give me. But the true cause of it is the music it plays. The sounds of crickets at night, the chatter of birds. There is, however, one sound that soothes my mind and in a way intoxicates me, and it's the howls from the wolves. When I come to the forest, they always seem to know, and their song begins. It might sound kind of nerdy, but I enjoy it. I have my geek moments.

I live in a small town called Natánik, on the edge of the Kootenai forest, some miles from Libby. In translation, the name of the town means "moon" in the Kutenai language. The town gets it's name from our view of the moon, if it isn't that obvious. Montana sure does have one of the best views of our planet's "light of the night" as my grandpa use to call it.

Natánik isn't much of a tourist stop. Anyone who enters town, they don't hesitate on leaving the very next day. Or even the very next hour. The locals here aren't very friendly, nor are the rumors they spread. If you are passing through town and rent a motel room, specifically men, the room service must be male, or else the sheriff will be called and will have to answer a call to suspected prostitution. Even if they were male, the law would still be called for suspected drug use. Seriously, the people here take their bullshit very serious.

Me, I ignore it. I have enough on my plate already, with school, track, and a job at a bar. At school, I'm a decent student. I have basically all A's, but I'm not much of someone who likes to brag. I just put my work there before anything else so I can get the right education to get out of here. I do want to take track seriously, but I don't want it to be my life. I want to do something involving nature. Involving the creatures that inhabit nature. Maybe zoology or wildlife biology.

But something changed in Natánik one day. The day I saw that U-Haul  being pulled by that black Ford F-150 . I was only headed home when I saw it, but didn't recognize the truck. I thought maybe someone in town had gotten a new truck, but that didn't explain the U-Haul. It turned down the street from my house on to Marley Grove before it was out of sight. So there was only one conclusion I could make, and it was so obvious.

For the first time in years, Natánik was going to have some new neighbors.

Hey guys. Short for the first chapter, I know. It's my first story though, and I thought the first chapter should give a bit of detail in it.

I'm not the most creative writer, and I sometimes have a strange way with words. But your comments and feedback would be gladly appreciated and helpful.

I hope you enjoy the read! This story could have a decent amount of chapters (Over 25 or 30) depending on how much my brain can function to come up with more content. I'm gonna try to post weekly, but if a chapter doesn't come up the next week, I probably had something to do or just got super lazy.

Thank you again for the read!
