Alex's POV
"Don't do it." i said. I could see she wanted to jump. From the street light i could see tears in her eyes and how she was ready to end it all. "Why not?" she chocked out. "Because you're better then this." "You don't know me." "No but i know there are people out there who care. Even though it doesn't seem like it they do. I care." She slowly turned her head. She has long wavy brown hair and blue eyes. Shes wearing jean shorts and a dark blue Hollister sweatshirt. She looks about my age and actually really pretty. How could such a pretty girl feel such pain? "But whats the point? We all die one day why not make it today?" her words hit me hard. I thought of my brother and i let a tear trickle down my face. I have to save her. "Because you want to stay here as long possible. Because there are great things in life you haven't lived to feel yet. Because people want you to stay. Just like i do." She looked back down at the ground that she may or may not fall on. I watched her as she started to panic at how far down it was. Before she started to slip off the building i ran and grabbed her. We rolled onto the floor. I held her and whispered everything will be ok as she cried into my arms. "Whats you're name?" she asked. "Alex Gaskarth whats yours?" "Macie Stubbs." "Nice to meet you ms. Stubbs." i said trying to up the mood. she smiled a little and said "Alex Gaskarth you saved my life. I don't know what i was thinking. Just thank you, thank you, thank you." "No need for thank yous. Does anyone know where you are?" "No. I sneaked out. A-a ctually i don't even live here. I live all the way in North Carolina." she stuttered a little. We are at Maryland right now. "Wow why did you leave?" "Well my dad...he left us and my mom always fights with me...i couldn't take the people at school so i just got up and left." "I know your mother is worried sick about you." i said. "How could you know? She thinks I'm useless. She doesn't care." "Don't ever say that. Trust me she is dieing right now because shes doesn't know where you are and if you're safe." I thought more and more of my brother. Was this how he felt? Like no one cared? "Please don't ever do that again. Please just fight through it and stay alive." Tears poured down my face and Macie looked up at me. "Why are you crying? It was my stupid decision. I wont ever do it again. I don't know what was going on in my mind. I went insane there for a moment you pulled me back." "It happens to the best of us. My brother killed himself. I may not completely understand the pain you have to of gone through to be driven to do such a thing. But what i do understand is the pain others will feel when someone does do that. The pain of missing someone so much and knowing there is no possible way to bring them back. Knowing that they're not just at a friends house or out to eat and will be back later. That they will never ever come back no matter how much you beg." after a moment of silence she said "I'm sorry." "don't be sorry. Do you know anyone besides me here?" "Yeah i met a girl named Lisa. Actually i met her today here at the mall. I couldn't find a right top and she helped me. Just girl stuff. She asked if i was new i said yeah and we hung out the rest of the day. I have her number she wanted to hang out again next weekend." "did you get her last name?" i asked. "Um Ru something it starts with a R. Why?" "Lisa Ruocco. I know her." I don't know why i didn't say 'shes my girlfriend.' The name Jack popped in my head. Ugh. "Oh cool she's very nice." We both kind of got lost i our thoughts. I thought about Jack, Lisa, and my brother all at the sametime. "Listen" I jumped back into reality and listened to Macie talk. "after what you just said i think i need to get back to my mom. I just hope she will forgive me." "She will. Here we can go to sleep and rest here for today and tomorrow i can drive you or buy you a train ticket back to home. I bet you don't have money." "Huh i don't. I spent the last of it today. Its OK i don't want to waste your time on a drive and you don't have to buy me a ticket." I probably wouldn't be able to drive her considering the band and my parents and everything but i defiantly had money to buy her a ticket and some extra so she can get food. "OK your right probably not the driving part. But i do have enough money for a ticket and food. You can't say no i am giving you the money." She laughed a little and said "Thank you." I lied back down and pulled her to lie down with me. I put my arms around her and she curled up in to a ball next me. I felt like we got each other. Like not in a boyfriend/girlfriend way. Like i feel like shes my little sister and i wanted to protect her from the world. As if she could read my mind she said "I feel like you're my big brother that i never had." "Good because i feel like you're my little sister that i never had." we lied there for awhile and both fell asleep. I woke up to hearing Jack calling my name. "Oh damn did i interrupt something?" his face went white and I could see he thought he cock blocked me. "No dude you're OK." Macie got up and rubbed her face "Um I'm just gonna leave you two -" "No Jack you did not cock block. Stop feeling awkward. Jack this is Macie, Macie this is Jack." she shook his hand but Jack pulled her in for a big hug. That made her laugh and i git up and stretched. "You guys do know that its like 7 in the morning?" "Oh wow. Why are you even awake?" "Just woke up super hungry. I don't think we ever actually ate yesterday." As soon as he mentioned food my stomach growled and i realized how hungry i really am. "Well what place is open?" "McDonald's duh. I got cash ill buy?" I looked at Macie. "I'm starved lets go!" i smiled and said "alright." and we headed to the ladder as we walked to the car i saw Macie look back at the spot that she was going to jump at. I let Jack walk ahead a little and i put my arms around her shoulders and said "That's the past now Macie." she gave me a smile "You're right." We got in the car. Me driving with Jack in the front and Macie in the back. "Wait a minuet! You guys like Blink 182?" she pointed at the CD "Um yeah." Jack replied. "Oh my gosh me too! You should play it!" Jack looked at me and said "I like this girl." and put the CD in. We sang along and Macie joined in. Her and Jack did weird dance moves and we made each other laugh. I looked in the mirror and watched Macie smile and giggle. I had to smile too. This girl is amazing. I can't believe she was just about to end her life but i stopped her. Now we're headed to McDonald's and making jokes in the car. I almost wanted to cry not because i felt bad because i was so happy. "Alright, alright everyone try being normal! What do you all want?" "Hmm 10 pc nuggets, fries, and dr.pepper." Jack said. "Same!" Macie agreed. "Ok looked like we're getting load of nuggets and fries." I wanted the same thing. I gave the order got the money from Jack and i parked in the parking lot and we ate. "So Macie how come i never seen you in school?" Jack asked. "Oh i'm new here. I might not stay though." She played a perfect poker face. Jack looked disappointed. "Ah i wish you stayed we could all of done more things together!" "Yeah! But I'm here now so why not?" The way Jacks eyes responded to that kind of scared me. Does he think shes hot? Does he want her to be his next girlfriend? As i thought about this he stole a nugget from me. "Hey you have your own!" he poked his tongue out at me and i lightly slapped him on the face. So before i could reject it he licked me cheek. "Ugh gross!" "You know you liked it." he said and winked. We laughed then i remember something. "Jack WE have school! It's monday!" "Fuck! No! Fuck!" "OK OK our stuff is in the locker so we're good on that. But we're going to be late! Mr. Leigh is our first bell! He'll call our parents!" "OK Macie where do you need dropped off?" Jack asked. "Um actually i live like right there." She pointed to a random part of the neighborhood even though i new she was lying i said OK and dropped her off in front of a random house. "I will be here after school no later then 2:30 so be outside. OK Macie?" I said quickly. "Ok ill be here." She smiled and waved and i sped down the road. I felt a little bad leaving her at a random spot. But i can't let my parents find out about this. Luckily though with breaking the speed limit, cutting in front of someones car who was gonna park where we did, and running down the halls when a teacher wasn't around we walked in and took a seat right when the bell rang. Me and Jack shared a 'yeah we're so bad ass look' and took the papers being passed out. When we finally got dismissed my phone vibrated. I quickly check it, it was from my mom. 'Since you have been so good you are off grounding the band can come over after school or anytime again. I love you.' i showed Jack the text. "Way to make me feel like the worst son mom." i muttered. "it's OK Alex. We can bring Macie and show her our band." "Do you like her?" "Yeah she's really cool." "No i mean like like her." "oh hm i don't know." My heart dropped and i said bye as i walked in my next bell. Gosh he probably does! I told Zack about Macie though and when class ended and we got our homework we walked to lunch together. "Cool. After i check in and tell my parents i'll be there." Rian told us as we sat down at our table. He already knew about the girl. That means Jack was talking about her. Ok Alex stop feeling this way. Macie deserves someone to love her and he is an amazing person. But what if i want to be the person he loves. That brought up the memory of Lisa telling me about how he told Marissa about someone he loves. Zack and Rian told us how their parents are up to meeting Clark. I totally forgot about that. But i was out of it. I was to busy thinking about Jack and how much i wish i was more with him. Suddenly i felt a hand on my knee. Of course it's Jacks. He rubbed my knee and started going a little further up to my thigh. I looked up at him and he winked. I laughed and he said "there that smile! You looked sad." I blushed a litttle. "Are you blushing?" "Psh no!" Jacks hand went further up my thigh. "You're blushing Alex." "Well what do you expect when another male his feeling up your leg?" "Me? i would kiss him." I took my eyes off him and looked at Rian and Zack only they wheren't there. In fact the lunch room was getting empty as people walked out. I guess i didn't hear the bell go off. "Shit." I looked back at him. He still had his hand on my thigh and still looking at me. He gave me a half smile.
