A Million Kisses

At first,
I was nervous of your touch;
When your hand rested on my hip,
The other under my ear,
Thumb slowly grazing below my jawline.

I held my breath,
And tried to settle my heartbeat
That seemed to want to beat out of it's cage,
But with you leaning in closer,
I could only focus on your perfection.

Those blue eyes were so bright,
Your lips so plump,
For once I wasn't thinking about what you were seeing, which was my less than beautiful self,
But I was focused on you.

Finally your lips touched mine,
Closed eyes, arms around eachother,
And I was fully and completely yours.
In that moment nothing belonged to me.
Not the breath in my lungs, nor the beat of my heart.

Even though this had been the umpteenth time you've kissed me,
I still cannot contain my soul,
As it blends into yours.
And I know I never will.
