At Last

Finally, the walls caved in,
For years they've been cracking,
Becoming discoloured and
Creaking at the touch of the wind.

The anticipation of their fall,
Made it almost relieving.
As if the weight on my shoulder had lifted when
Finally, the walls caved in.

Now I stand in the debris
Of what used to be us,
Breathing in the fresh air,
Soaking in the warmth of the sun,
And a big smile spread across my face, Because
Finally, the walls caved in.
