How do I start with such a situation?

As I look down on you with pathetic 'obligation'

And you tried to hide it with bandage

As you look away in shame.

Yes that's a word for it; bitter shame

And yet you won't take the entire blame

I tell myself it isn't your fault again

And then 'again' I feel just sick.

And I ask slowly in utter horror

My heart beating to why you did it yet again

I can't even pretend to know your thoughts

But then again 'who gives a fuck'

You're supposed to be the one I follow

And yet how can I if you're gone tomorrow

It's a pain to know you're hurting

And no one can help you; God they're trying

And so my emotions are played with harshly

And I keep them pent up in a crooked line

And this stupid poem won't let me tell you

That every time you cut, there's more than a fucking scar.

I See You.

Authours Message:

This poem is on but one person, I will refer to as Her. I would like to keep anonymous, this hurt like hell to write and hits very close to my heart. Being unable to do anything but watch Her, it's hard to talk about. To those who self harm, to those who watch; I can't perfectly explain my own thoughts, maybe you can't either. I've known a few people who self harm, and they scared me. I didn't understand. Sometimes I still don't understand. No-ones perfect, and despite my fears I've never looked down on another person for their choices. It doesn't mean I like it, though. It drives nails in my chest. Anyone can do it. So does that mean you should?
