This....

This title...

Gives me PHYSICAL PAIN TO READ.

And it also makes me want to slam my head into a concrete wall.

Soooo main character, supposedly a damsel in distress till their saviour comes and rescuses them, no more to it. The main storyline right there.

Things main character could be saved from:

Abusive parents

Near death experience

....

....

....

....

....

....

Pretty much it.

But then suddenly after rescue, it's like they don't have any mental problems, apart from maybe one crying session, and they're suddenly...

SOMEHOW SOME MEGA AMAZING BADASS NOTHING CAN GET IN THEIR WAY BITCH THEY ARE A WARRIOR!!!!!!!

*coughcough* ha no.

Being removed from something like an abusive household, they are going to have to have a lot of recovery time, they aren't instantly going to become the next marvel superhero...

Sometimes they do have mental health issues in their stories, but sometimes people don't portray it right and end up milking it somehow.

They may have PTSD, for example, and sometimes in stories this can be portrayed correctly.

BUT WHAT IS NOT CORRECT ABOUT IT IS THAT ITS MAGICALLY CURED AFTER THEIR 'SAVOUR' IS LIKE I LOVE YOU IM HERE FOR YOU.

NOT.

HOW.

IT.

WORKS.

And boom, PTSD? Mental scars? Depression? Self hatred? Frustration? Maybe even wanting to die, because they can't cope anymore?

Gone, nope, never happened.

If your going to write about mental health issues, it's going to have to be at least for the most part, a serious book.

And it frustrates me SO MUCH.

HHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Somebody stop me before I murder someone.
