New Beginnings

A matter of life or death

Betty, jughead, Veronica and Kevin arrived at the hospital after minutes. They ran down the corridors looking for the waiting room. They turned a corner and there, sitting there, a wreck was Toni. Jughead and Kevin ran up to her and gave her a massive hug whilst Veronica and Betty went to get her a drink.
"Toni, omg drink this." Betty said as she placed her hand on Toni's back.
"What happened TT?" Kevin asked
"A man came and said he was in to check the ceilings so I sent him away because we hadn't made an appointment. Then he brought out a gun and was about to shoot at me, but Reggie jumped in front of me saving me from getting shot. Its all my fault."
"Omg that's terrible. But Toni, it is not your fault. Trust me when I say he will be fine. He'll pull through because he loves you so much." Jughead said reassuringly. Toni buried her head into Kevin chest and just sat there for ages.
"Toni, Me and Betty are going to head back to the trailer to get you some clothes. Okay?" Toni nodded weakly.
Betty and jughead arrived back at the trailer. The door was wide open and they walked in. A massive puddle of blood lay on the floor. With bloody hand prints all over the walls and door.
"Oh my..." Betty said her eyes filling with tears. Jughead grabbed her hand.
"Right, we're going to be okay, Betts. Just stay together." They walked into Toni's room and got clothes. After, they went to the pops.
"Hey pops." Jughead said.
"Hey kids. What can I get for you?"
"We are here for a big takeout order. You see, one of our friends was shot so we are all at the hospital."
"Oh in that case, have it for free."
"Omg are you sure?" Whilst waiting for the food to be ready, Betty was thinking.
"Juggie, I know I shouldn't be thinking of this right now, but why did the man want to shoot Toni?"
"Don't worry betts, I was thinking the same thing. I really don't know, maybe serpent issues? I'm not sure. Well start investigating after reggie and Toni have recovered."
Back at the hospital everyone was waiting silently. Something broke the silence. Archie walked in.
"Omg are you guys alright?" They all glared at him.
"Does it look like we're all right?" Veronica said putting her arm around Toni.
"Look, Toni. I will never forgive myself for what I did to you, there was no need. But I am here for you no matter if you want me here or not. My dad was shot last year, so I know what you are going through." Toni looked up.
"Thanks archie." She said so quietly.
"I will make it up to you but until then can we try get along?"
"Yes we can." Archie smiled and wrapped his arm around her.
"He's going to do just fine."
Then a doctor walked into the waiting room and everyone stood up.
"Mr mantle is in room 14. He has not yet woken but still talk to him, keep it positive. It could make all the difference."
"Toni, are you sure you'll be fine?" Kevin asked.
"Yes kev, I'll be fine. I have to pull through and stay strong for reggie." And she walked away. 10, 11, 12, 13, 14. Toni opened the door and there he was. Rigged up to a machine, the only thing keeping him alive. He was so strong, keeping it together through the operation.
"Hey Reggie. Um its Toni here. I just want to say I'm so sorry about that man and thanks for doing that for me, I could never thank you enough. Anyway, I'm meant to keep it positive but that's pretty hard. But I figured if the man didn't come we would've carried on watching movies. And you would keep pretending your interested but secretly nodding of to sleep." Toni chuckled.
"I miss you so much, reggie and I can't lose you. I can never lose you. I need you. Please come back to me. I love you." Toni got up and walked over to the bed, she stroked his smooth, soft skin and kissed him on the fore head and walked out.
She joined the others in the waiting room and Betty and jughead had arrived.
"Hey Toni. Are you holding up?" Jughead asked passing her some fries.
"Yeh, He's still unconscious but I was talking to him. It breaks my heart to see him like that.
"I know, I know. Come here." Jughead held her in a hug for ages.
"Hang on, what the hell is archie doing here?" He asked angrily.
"It's fine, jug. Archie apologised and said he'll make it up for me and that he is here for me. He was being really nice."
"Hmm, Okay. I guess he can stay."

One by one everyone went in to see reggie. And Toni didn't budge from the hospital. She had been awake for 54 hours waiting in reggies hospital room and the waiting room. Everyone had left the hospital at least once, except from Toni.
"Toni, sweetie. I think you should go home now. Take a shower get changed and grab a bite to eat. It's not healthy for you." Kevin said running his fingers through her pastel pink hair.
"No, I need to stay here for reggie."
"Trust me when I say, reggie would want you to go home."
Kevin lead her out the hospital and into his car. They drove home in silence and walked into the trailer. Betty and jughead were there and seeing them together made Toni smile. They were cuddled up and sleeping. How she longed so badly for that right now.
