you're banging on my door
over and over;
i don't want to let you in
but i'm weak
and i do.
"allison," you say when you see me,
"what the hell did she do?"
i flinch
because i don't want to tell you that your girlfriend is a conniving bitch,
but you assume it's because i'm hurt.
it only takes two strides
for you to cross the room and wrap your arms around me
and press your mouth against my hair.
"buttercup, are you okay?"
i try to push you away
despite what my heart is telling me.
"don't call me that, parker. i'm fine."
but you don't let go.
"allison."
