Neal's POV.

Wow, I didn't know why I did that but Summer had looked so adorable standing there searching for words to say to me that I couldn't help myself, I leaned down and kissed her lightly on the cheek.

"Take my advice and use the stairs next time." I whispered in her ear and then before I could do anything stupid like actually kiss her, I turned around and walked to my car.

"Bye, Miz Summer." I shouted, wanting to look at her one last time and then I rode away. Later, I told myself the peck was because and let's face it, I did save her! Help, at the least and she did say thank you so I just kinda took my reward, anyways I kinda loved baiting her, she gave some of the most amazing responses to my words.

From the time miss SUmmer had slid through the wide expanse of the floor in our office's corridor and landed at my feet, I had known she would light up the bloody office. And she had. In a day.

I didn't know why but now I looked forward to going to the office.

Well maybe I did, it was because of Summer.

She's had adventures and then some on her very first day. Probably ending in fear for her. I remembered the way she had looked when we had been trapped in the elevator and I never wanted to see that expression again. She had looked so scared and faint and it had ignited something in me, something that told me that we had to get out, I had been frantic in the lift and almost lost all control and then I had seen her cry, which made my resolve fly out of the window. And I had never felt that way before.

I was a sucker when it came to crying women.

Miz Summer was definitely something.

And she was having an effect on me. Something that I didn't appreciate because I had been to that road once. And I didn't want a repeat performance. Ever again.

I shrugged all thought of her out of my mind and sank to my bed, welcoming the warmth and vowing that I wouldn't take the lift again.

One experience with near death was once too many.

"Morning, man." Javier said, when he saw me walk in through the door and I gave him a grin.

I avoided our lift and took the stairs to the third floor.

Once I was in my cabin, the first thing I noticed was that Summer wasn't there.

"Get a grip, you idiot." I scolded myself and then walked over to my desk to greet my work for the day.

I was working through the first manuscript when she walked in, or stumbled in.

"Sorry." She mumbled when she bumped in my table and walked over to hers.

"Are you stoned?" I asked her and I saw the shock on her face.

"What? Of course, not!" She sounded astonished. A smile broke out on my face.

"Oh, I just wondered." I said and lowered my head to hide my smile.

"Haha, funny." She snapped and I shook my head, chuckling.

"I thought you were, you were falling all over the place." I said.

"My foot came in the rug! I do NOT drink." She said and I received another view of her tongue.

"Aren't you little miss perfect." Now, showing me her tongue was downright cute, no one had ever done that to me.

But the point was that I liked it. Summer was different and fresh with her expressions and superman undies and toungue-displays and I liked teasing her.

"Oh, shut up!" She said exasperated and then slid into her chair to do her work. I left it at that, though. We'll get plenty of opportunities in the future.

Weeks passed and I grew more fascinated with Summer, everytime I looked at her, I wanted to smile, she made me happy. I loved the way her hair flew in different directions and how her hands were in constant action, how she would trip on her own feet, how she drooled over her vampire boyfriend's pictures, how she stumbled her way across to her table almost everyday, her little misadventures and her little convo's with her me and her friends. She always tried to keep away from trouble but somehow it would always land up in her lap. Well, at least she avoided the lift.

Summer had completed one month here and so Alexis had decided to throw her a little party. And I was supposed to invite her.

That day Summer looked agitated, but that wasn't new.

"Hey." I said and she snapped her head up.

"Hi." She replied looking a little scared.

"What's up? You look weird." I asked her and she shook her head.

"Oh nothing, I was just talking to my friend. He told me something." She muttered almost talking to herself, I walked over to her desk and peered at her screen. There on the screen was written 'Adam mad-man' and Summer's IM name.

"Who's Adam the mad man?" I asked her and she quickly shut off the chat window.

"Oh, um, no one. Just this guy, he's my friend." She said hurriedly and went red. Okay, add another point. She blushed when she lied.

"So he's you 'guy-friend'?" I asked and she blushed harder.

Somehow, this wasn't making me happy.

"NO! Just a guy and a friend." She said and then shrugged. Finally, her eyes met mine and once again I realised just how deep her brown eyes were. They always made me stare.

"Neal?!" She said and waved her hand in front of my face.

"Yeah! Listen, Alexis is throwing a party for you tomorrow and she asked me to tell you that. Since, I live near-by, I'll swing by and pick you up by 8." I said and Summer's eyes widened. At that moment I wanted to chuckle but just then her IM screen popped up and Adam the mad man's message blinked.

'Baby?' It said, Summer blushed again and this time she shut down her monitor all together.

"It's okay, I'm off, you talk to the guy-friend. Just be ready by 8." I said and then turned around to walk away.

Why was I feeling .. like this if she had a boy-friend? I mean it was none of my business!

"Neal, wait! I don't want no party. Why is she doing this?" She demanded.

"Look, new employees don't stay for long and you're the first one to actually work through the month. Plus, she likes you and she's a party-animal." I said and smiled at her but her eyes were still wide.

"What?" I asked and she hesitated.

"This is not a trick to bully me, again?" She questioned and this time I really did chuckle.

"No, baby. It's just a party with your co-workers. Bring your guy-friend if you want." I said.

Okay, that just popped out. I did not mean it.

"NO! It's okay, I'll be ready. Is there some dress code or something?" She asked again looking worried.

"Nah, but the less you wear the better." I said, winking.

"Neal! Pervert." She muttered and turned around, I made my way to the door, chuckling. And then I remembered.

"Oh, hey one more thing." I said and she raised a brow at me.

"Lose the superman undies." I said and I heard her outraged gasp.

Oh, this was going to be fun.
