It was troublesome sleep. My body may have been resting, but my mind was working more than ever. It was all coming back. With every fragmented memory came shots of anger. Memories of a life stolen from me, stolen by that man, that man and his eyes, Vaine. I hated him, I hated him more than I had ever hated anything. If I had to choose between having my mother with me or Vaine right then, I would've picked Vaine just so I could kill him slowly. Claw into eyes and head, rip his lungs out of his chest, tear away at everything he is and was. Leave him in a bloody heap. A bloody soulless lifeless-

I felt something moving on top of me. I shot open my eyes and readied my talons. I found Jinx rustling in her sleep on my chest. Her head was lying on me. I saw her beautiful brown hair cascading down her back. She was on my right side, and had her right arm thrown over me. Her body was so relaxed, I had never seen anything so...  I looked around the room. Neither Drake nor Wulf were anywhere to be found, but Shadow was still passed out on the ceiling.

As I moved my head around to look, I felt her rustling awake. What would she think when she woke up like this? What would she say when she knew I didn't wake her up or move her when I found her like this? I was scared. So I pretended to sleep.

I felt her lift her head and look around. I felt her hair rolling over my body as she turned. I waited for her to jump back, and slap me to wake me up, or something, but instead I heard her laugh a little. I cracked an eye open trying to keep up the illusion that I was asleep and saw her smiling as she looked down and shook her head. She sat up and took her arm off of me, when I decided to "wake up."

I rolled my head around and took a deep breath and opened my eyes slowly. I saw her sitting up and looking at me.

"Hey sleeping beauty," Jinx teased. I squinted at her.

"Ha. Ha. Where is everyone?" I asked. As I pretended to look around curiously. She looked around too, not realizing that we were essentially alone.

"Huh. I have no clue." She looked toward the broken warehouse windows. "It's dark outside, do you think they went on the run instead of us?"

"Why would they do that?" I asked. I saw her look down, smile, and blush a bit.

"I don't know, those assholes might've seen us and thought-" she caught herself.

"Thought what?" I asked, playing dumb.

"They might've thought that we were really tired and just let us rest. I don't know why else they would've gone out this late. I hope they are okay. Wulf's not exactly the stealthiest, and Drake has never gone out on a run."

"Oh no," I said. I had never thought about that. Sure Wulf was a wolf, wow that sounded redundant, but I remember hearing drake was part Komodo Dragon. Those aren't exactly known for their speed or stealth. Sure he's intimidating but so is a gun. "We should go after them."

"You're right," Jinx nodded. She stood up, stretched, and got on all fours. She arched her back and got ready to run.

"I'll do my best to keep you in sight, but with so many trees, I have no promises." I wouldn't be able to follow her through the forest, so I planned on flying above her.

"Don't worry, if you lose me, I'll find you. Just make sure you don't mess anything up before I get to you," Jinx said teasingly. She smiled, then took off out the warehouse doors and toward the town. I stood up and stretched out my wings. I pushed off the ground and flapped my wings hard and flew out the broken windows. I turned my wings and took off upwards. I was quickly above the trees, and I couldn't help but look hopelessly into the distance, couldn't help but wonder what if Drake and Wulf were alright.
