Lysosomes are organelles inside animal cell's that are fully membrane-bound; they're not present in red blood cells, though, and fungi have a similar structure called valcuoles (a space or vesicle within they cytoplasm of a cell, enclosed by a membrane and typically containing fluid) that serves the same purpose but actually is not considered a lysosome.

First found by Belgian biologist Christian de Duve, lysosomes are both structurally and chemically sphere-shapestructures that contain acid hydrolasis (a process in which a protic acid is used to catalyze the cleavage of a chemical bond via nucleophilic substitution reaction, with the addition of the elements of water), these use enzymes to breakdown biomolecules like proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, and lipids, almost like a stomach digesting food.🍎

Lysosomes are "humorously" called "suicide bags" or "suicide sacs' because they break down left over cellular wall waste, digesting the unwanted materials from throughout they cytoplasm and destroying obsolete components inside the cell.💣

Lysosomes are also in charge of celluar homeostasis, plasma membrane repair, cell signaling, and energy metabolism.👀

JOKE:🤣
If I were a DJ, my name would be DJ Enzyme
Because I'm always breaking it down💀
