Tears turned into laughter

TEARS TURNED INTO LAUGHTER

We were both young,

Yet our hearts beat as one,

You were always the girl on my mind.

The years our lives started,

Along the way we departed,

Losing what we fought for all that time.

-

I'm not that kid anymore,

Your not that girl from before,

Though your smile is still the same.

My heart begs me to listen,

But my head won't pay attention,

Can't comprehend this lost feeling of shame.

-

Please don't come knocking

Because then there's no stopping,

Me running back into your arms.

That summer we grew up too fast,

Maybe we weren't meant to last,

But still these hands will protect you from harm.

-

You want to start again,

But I can't just pretend,

That nothing has changed all these years.

For yours my lips are yearning,

But I'm not yet done learning,

To end a day without you is my greatest fear.

-

We were both young,

And our hearts beat as one,

It's safe to say that it was love.

Along the way we departed,

But then our lives has just started,

When I find you, you'll be put above.

-

I'm not that kid anymore,

And your much more prettier than before,

Though your smile is still the same.

My heart begs for your attention

And my head forces me to listen,

To avoid any regret accompanied with pain.

-

When you came here knocking,

I could barely stop talking,

As I pulled you safe in my arms.

That summer I always cherished,

Now that you're here my soul merits,

Me to protect you from all harm.

-

You want to start again,

Right then my heart ascends,

I have been waiting all these years.

For yours my lips are yearning,

My desire for you burning,

Our tears turned into laughter my dear.
