PRETEND

Let's play a game,

I'll call it "Pretend",

Please take no shame,

On how this ends.

Pretend to love me,

Pretend to care,

How hard can that be?

Play if you dare.

Touch me there, kiss here,

It's just the way things go,

'Cause with you near, there's not that fear,

Of forever being alone.

Play with my heart, keep me in the dark,

Leave your true intentions hidden,

Let me be dumb, better than numb,

Though the depth of my soul is sickened.

Just be nice, don't think twice,

Of the damaged heart inside,

It's long been dead, so rest your head,

On the bosom, below it hides.

So let's keep playing,

It can't be that intense,

I'm really craving,

The game I'll call "Pretend."
