Chapter Eleven

Pero what the hell?

Almost three in the morning na ako nakauwi. I didn’t even care kung gising or tulog na ba siya. I would love to strangle someone’s neck that time. And that someone is Bee.

Pero yung bruha tinawanan lang ako. “Ayaw mo ‘nun? You get to spend some time with doc. Malay mo you’ll share another kiss na naman. And besides, look at your list, Liz. Number five. Exercise regime. Panay reklamo mo diyan sa fats mo, get rid of them na.” Nakakainis talaga!

Pagkatapos ng tawag na ‘yun, I tossed and turn but sleep won’t come. Everytime I tried to close my eyes, si Doc Lee ang nakikita ko. And I’d tried my best not to picture him standing in front of me.. naked. Damn.

Nakatulog ako bandang alas singko na and this is me. Haggard na haggard. Dark circles starts to show under my eyes. Mukha na akong bruha. I wonder kung may lakas pa ba ako sa jogging session today. At since nine a.m. nga daw ako susunduin ‘nung isa, kailangan ko ng maghanda.

At exactly nine a.m., I heard someone knocked on my door. I looked at myself one last time in front of a mirror before I opened the door.

Right there, stood the infamous Doctor Lee with a shirt that hugged every muscles in his biceps and chest, a jogging shorts and a pair of running shoes. He looks so yummy! Lalo na’t his shirt was damped with sweat.

“Wow. I didn’t expect you’d make it on time.” Bungad ko sa kanya.

“Good morning to you, too.” He replied. Smart-ass.

“Shall we go?” I asked.

He looked at me from head to toe and mumbled. “Yup. You’re good to go.”

An hour later, I’ve been panting like a dog with my tongue out. Wagas kung makatakbo si Lee (He told me to stop calling him Doc pag kaming dalawa lang) and I’ve never prepared for kind of run.

But most of the time, naiiwanan niya ako kagaya na lang. Sino ba naman ang nasa kanilang matinong pag-iisip ang tatakbo sa loob ng isang oras or more.

“Pit-stop!” I shouted nung nasa loob na kami ng isang park. I laid on the grass, pagod na pagod at hinihingal pa. I closed my eyes and eased my breathing.

I opened my eyes and saw him fighting the urge to smile. Clearly, he looked amused.

“A bird told me you liked to run. What happened?” He asked, trying not to burst out laughing. I’m sure they would also die from laughing so hard.

“As a matter of fact, the one who told you was a bee. And honestly, I was also shocked nung sinabi mong I jog every morning.” I suddenly cursed myself silently.

Napatawa na lang siya and then he held his hands. “C’mon. Malapit na ta’yo. It’s jus a couple of blocks away from your house.” Anyaya pa niya sa akin.

I groaned. “I can’t.

“Wait here. I’ll get you something.” And with that he ran away.

Ilang sandali pa’y bumalik ito. I didn’t bother to open my eyes but then he held my hand and pulled me up. “Here. “We’ll relax for fifteen minutes then we’re going, okay?” dagdag pa niya.

I accepted the cup and started to sip it when he asked, “Why did you do it?”

“Do what?”

“You said you didn’t like to run. What made you do it?”

Ahh. So yun pala. I really don’t know the answer so I just shrugged.

When I finished drinking my cup, tumayo na siya.

“But I still can’t stand.” Reklamo ko ulit. As a matter of fact, I don’t think I can stand for a week.

His back facing me, “Let me give you a piggy-back ride, then.”

“What?” tanong ko, he looked at me over his shoulder and just smiled.

Akala naman niya matatakot ako dun sa banta niya but nevertheless, I hooked my arms around his neck and climb on his back.

Instead of jogging, he just walked papunta sa bahay ko. It felt so awkward and the act felt so intimate. Not to mention a lot of people were staring at us. Yung iba kitang-kita pa yung pagkakilig nila. They thought we’re a couple.

“You know, we should do this again Liz.” He suddenly said.

“Ang alin?”

“Running together.”

“Nah-uh, I don’t think so.” I felt his body vibrate while he chuckled. God, that felt nice.

“It will help you burn your fats.” Sabi pa nito.

I gasped in horror. “WHAT?!” He covered his ears sa naging reaction ko. Bigla tuloy akong nahiya and I apologized.

“It’s fine. Bee told me you’re trying to get rid of your fats. As far as I can see, there is no inappropriate fats in you. But then what do I know? Everything is different from a woman’s perspective.”

Napaisip naman ako bigla dun sa list and then I agreed. “Yeah.” Exercise regime, here I come. “Yeah. I guess you’re right. We should do this again.”

That’s when I realized na nasa labas na pala kami ng bahay ko. Masyado ata akong naging komportable sa likod niya. I awkwarldy, landed on my two feet. Inalalayan pa niya ako papasok sa pinto.

“Til’ next time, Liz.”  He said, smiling.

“Yeah. Til’ next time.” I nodded “Yun ay kung makakalakad pa ako.” Dagdag ko pa.

He thrown his back and laughed.

He waved and bid his goodbye before he ran away.
