I really wanted to write the one shot okay?
Okay! Leggo!

"What're you doing back?" Lance inquired upon seeing the man in question as he walked into the common area of the castle-ship.
"I'm back to help you guys on a mission," Keith answered straight away, "apparently the place we're going still thinks I'm a paladin so... I'm coming!"
Lance stared at Keith, he then said in a questioning tone "But you don't have a lion?", "Yeah, your point?", "I have the red lion, you don't. How are you getting there?" Lance asked a little curious and hopeful. "I'm hitchin' a ride with you," Keith replied, he then looked at his feet, "if that's okay with you?" He then looked up at Lance with the most adorable face that Lance had seen on him. "Uh, yeah," Lance managed to get out, his cheeks reddened a little, "that's fine with me!" He rubbed his neck nervously.
"Hey guys," Hunk and Pidge entered the room, "Shiro said we need to go to our lions, we've landed," Hunk informed them. "You okay with taking Keith," Pidge asked, "right?" "Oh yeah, we we're just talking about that, it's fine!" Lance said to her whilst walking past and ruffling her hair.
"Well come on Keith!" Lance shouted on the other side of the door, "you've gotta come with me, you know that right?" "Yeah! I'm coming!" Keith shouted back, he started walking but Pidge stopped him and gave him a wink "Good luck!" Keith's face went a little red, "Thanks, you too," He then swiftly walked towards where he was supposed to be, passing Pidge's remark off as her wishing him luck on the mission... nothing else.

When Keith got to the Red Lion's hangar Lance was already there, leaning on Red's paw. "You better have been treating her nicely!" Keith joked, "Yeah, you should be telling her to treat me nicely," Lance laughed, "anyways we should get going." "Yeah we should."
Keith followed Lance into the Red Lion's cockpit, unsure of where to sit, "You can sit in my lap if you want?" Lance said flirtatiously, winking after he said it. Keith just stared at him, face going a little red again. "Sure," was his reply, now it was Lance's turn to blush as Keith walked around the chair and laid himself across Lance's lap.
"Look who's cradling who in there arms now," Lance smirked. Keith stared at him, his mouth open a little, "YOU DO REMEMBER!" Keith exclaimed, Lance nodded laughing a little. "You sound a little angry Muttlet," Lance asked, "why?" "I don't know," Keith started, "probably because you forgot our first bonding moment!" Lance's smirk only got bigger, "I never forgot sunshine, I was messing with you." Lance laughed an infectious laugh, making Keith laugh as well.
"So are you gonna stay on my lap or?" Lance asked as he heard Shiro say that they needed to go, "Nah, this is comfy, and payback for messing with me," was what Keith said, crossing his arms. "Okay, well I'm gonna start flying now so you might wanna hold on, you and I both know Red is considerably fast." "Yeah," Keith chuckled, he wrapped his arm around Lances shoulders for a little bit of security.

After putting a show on for the inhabitants of the plant and being allowed to go and find the plant they needed, the paladins headed out in groups. Shiro went with Matt, as Matt had begged to go on a mission with them, Pidge, Hunk and Allura went together and Lance and Keith were paired together.
Keith and Lance headed up the stream of a river they had spotted as to prevent them getting lost. "Okay but Keith," Lance started after they'd been walking in silence for a bit, "I've been meaning to ask you, why we're you so willing to sacrifice yourself?" Keith looked at Lance and then sighed and looked down at his feet, "Because I don't matter, and the cause does," Lance was about to butt in however Keith stopped him by raising his hand, "and before you say 'oh you do matter Keith!' 'We need you' I don't matter and you don't need me because anyone could replace me, I'm expendable. There's nothing tying me to my life, no family waiting for me at home," Keith sighed again, sounding sadder than before, "and you guys can get over it easily because I made it that way, I made myself distant so if that situation ever arose and I'd have to sacrifice myself then it'd be easier for everyone to just move on." As Keith got to the end of his sentence his voice got more upset and strained. He looked up at Lance, they had both stopped by then. "Keith," Lance said staring him straight in the eyes, "no matter what you think or how hard you try to persuade me otherwise," it was Lance's turn to sigh now, "everyone matters, no one deserves to be forgotten or left behind or to just disappear out of existence, Everyone. Matters." Keith just stared at Lance, not sure what to say.
So he continued walking, kicking the dirt like substance on the ground. Keith didn't care how he was walking or where, he just needed a minute. He didn't want to hear what Lance had said, it went against everything he'd been taught. He wasn't watching where he was going.
He slipped.
Keith slipped down the dirt bank of the now lake, as the river had come to a dead end, and there was a loud splash.
Lance came rushing over, he hadn't followed Keith as he knew the guy needed time to think, he didn't expect him to fall into a lake. Nor did he expect Keith not being able to swim as he watched the ravenette be engulfed by the water.
Thinking fast Lance dived in after Keith, his eyes open and stinging a little, his vision blurry. He got sight of Keith who had, at this point, gone unconscious. He grabbed Keith and pulled him to the surface, once at the surface he made a V formation with his weaker arm and put it just under Keith's chin as to keep his head above water. Lance then started swimming slowly towards the bank of the Lake, letting go of Keith and pulling the boy by his waist ashore.
Lance then went to check if Keith was breathing before performing CPR, he put his head next to Keith ear and looked at the mans chest, it wasn't rising and Keith was barely breathing. He sat up, ripped Keith's shirt down the middle and put the bottom of his palm on top of his other hand. He then put his hand in the middle of Keith's chest and pumped hard and fast 30 times, checked Keith's breathing again, he then tilted Keith's head back and lifted his chin, pinched Keith's nose and covered Keith's mouth with his own, blowing two breaths that lasted one second each. He continued this until Keith started breathing regularly.
Lance then moved Keith into the recovery position, just in case Keith was to throw up. Keith did cough up a lot of water so that was a bit worrying to Lance.
Eventually Keith became conscious again, much to Lance's delight. Keith looked at Lance and launched himself into Lance's arms, Lance told Keith to calm down just incase he hurt himself.
"Thanks for saving me Lance," Keith said smiling, the cutest smile Lance had seen, "I owe you." Lance shook his head, "We're a team right?" Keith nodded, "yeah, well that means I'm not gonna let you die, Samurai, okay?" "Yeah," Keith replied, laughing and blushing a little bit.
Lance stood up, offering his hand to Keith, "We should start heading back, we found nothing so let's hope the others did too!" Keith took his hand and the two started walking back together, their hands still entwined.

When they got back Shiro was the only one there, he told them to get in the Red Lion and head back as he and Matt had found what they were looking for. Keith Smiled at Lance as he followed the brunette into the Red Lion.
"So," Lance said, turning his chair around to Keith, "wanna sit in my lap again?" He smirked and opened up his arms. Keith plopped himself down into Lances lap as he did before and Lance started the Red Lion up.

When they got back to the Castle-Ship Pidge greeted them and told them that dinner was ready, so the three of them made there way to the dining room. "So what happened with you two? Your hair looks damp" she questioned, "Keith fell into a lake and I heroically saved his life!" Lance exclaimed triumphantly, Keith sighing but not protesting because that was what happened. Pidge looked at Keith, expecting him to yell at Lance or something, to her disappointment he didn't. He just laughed.
They got to the dining room quite quickly and everyone discussed what they did whilst they were out, Hunk and Pidge had been teaching Allura random human slang, Shiro and Matt had been "talking and walking" and Keith and Lance, well Lance told the story of how he saved Keith's life whilst Keith just nodded and laughed. It wasn't until Lance was asked how he saved Keith that Keith stopped laughing. Lance told them that he'd had to learn how to do CPR when he was at home, as he went to the beach with his siblings often and his mother forced him to learn 'just in case, you never know when you need to use the skill'. Lance said how he had to perform mouth to mouth and Pidge and Hunk nearly spat out their food goo, Matt just stared at him with wide shocked eyes, Shiro looked unfazed and Keith had gone bright red.
Lance's. Lips. Had. Touched. His. was what he was thinking. That was all he could think. He didn't talk for the rest of dinner.
A little later Keith had to leave again, he said his goodbyes and said he'd be back soon. Lance brought him into a hug, which was unexpected. "I'll miss you whist you're gone," was what Lance said, "And I will too" Keith responded with. And then he left.

It was three weeks later when Keith came back, he'd been allowed a week, or whatever the equivalent was, to relax and hang out with his friends, his family that was team Voltron.
As soon as Keith saw Lance his face heated up, instantly thinking back to Lance's lips being on his, even though he wasn't awake. It was on his mind a lot recently. It didn't help with the small bundle of feelings he had towards the new Red Paladin.
Lance walked up to Keith, "Still haven't cut you awful mullet off I see," Lance teased Keith, "it's no bueno for the ladies, Keith" "What if I don't like the ladies?" Keith retorted, crossing his arms. "Wait, what?" He gaped at Keith, "you don't like girls?" He asked, "Um, I've never been attracted to any, so no?" "But do you like guys?" He asked, Keith thought for a second before he replied, "I think so..." "Thank god I'm not alone," Lance sighed, Keith looked at him with a funny look. "What? I thought you liked girls?" "Well I like both girls and boys, so.." Keith glared at him, "You're just messing with me aren't you?" Lance looked at Keith with an incredulous look, "No I'm not!" He semi shouted, "Yeah you are! You're just saying that to annoy me and mess with me like you always do!" Keith shouted back at him, both of them getting madder. "Oh for quiznak sake! I'm not messing with you! Why would I joke about that or tease you about something like that!?" "Because everyone I've told does! They either joke about it or think I'm going to hit on them when I'm not!" Keith was still shouting, "Oh Dios mío Keith," Lance sucked in a breath and pinched the bridge of his nose, "do you really think I'd want you to hit on me or that I'd hit on you?" He responded to Keith. Keith glared at him "Why would you say that?" Keith exclaimed, his voice laced with anger and a little bit of sadness, "Because it's probably true! Why would I say it other wise? Huh?" Keith had had enough with fighting with Lance and without thinking grabbed Lances jacket and pulled him into a kiss, it was short but Lance did kiss back almost instantly as if he was expecting it.
They just looked at each other, their faces now red. "I'm, um, I'm sorry?" Keith said, "I'm sorry for doing that, I mean you might not have liked it an-" he was cut off by Lance claiming his lips this time.
They pulled away and Keith looked up at Lance smiling, "You look cute," Lance said, smiling back at Keith, "so, what do we do now?" He asked. "Um, I don't know, I think I like you," Keith paused, "I mean, I know I like you, do you like me and if so will you be my boyfriend?" Keith looked at Lance with hopeful eyes and Lance responded with a simple "Yes, I would love to" and Kissed Keith again.
