This is the song for when Thirak says 'I love you' but Mark does not return his words – for the first time, nor does Mark do anything to reassure Thirak that he is loved.
This song has been killing me ever since I decided to use it for these two and this moment. I actually have fallen in love with this song and it tears at my heart so much. This is for Thirak realising Mark's changing. This is for the times that they've had and won't come again because you only live through everything once – nothing repeats itself exactly.
Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol – adjacent video
We'll do it all
Everything
On our own
We don't need
Anything
Or anyone
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel
Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads
I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see
I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
This is for when Mark attacks Thirak, and Thirak is physically abused. This song is hurtful and could act as a trigger for people. It puts your heart through a wrangler and leaves you in pieces.
But it doesn't make me want to cry like Chasing Cars.Justified Black Eye by No Use For A Name (but I prefer the version completed by Simple Plan, so those are the ones I've used as the video)
She was confused and abused in this life
Emotional and violent moments
Seemed to take the longest time
Every single knockout dragout fight they ever had
He starts to laugh, he starts to lie
Suddenly, psychotic eyes
Every night she cried herself to sleep, she didn't recognize
Her own face in the mirror, black and blue
So afraid, intimidation, like a child she hides away
He'd always try to justify what wasn't true
Justified black eye
Taken for granted, she sleeps by the phone
Waiting for a call from him
But it seems he's never coming home
Fourteen beers later, he is there without an answer
Once again, she questions his lies
He goes to bed with no reply
Tomorrow morning, different story, and he'll be a different guy
He'll justify her black eye with another lie
She packs her bags, in great temptation
He's on his knees, again he cries
A hug and a kiss and a don't know why as a tear drops from her swollen eye
Apologies until tonight and then another
Justified black eye
