Chapter 31: "I should work on my comebacks, honestly."

mareen's pov

     I'm terribly confused. I don't understand anything that's happening this instant.

    I never thought I would forgive him so easily, I just can't stay mad at him, although I always am. But he confessed that he likes me, although I know deep down inside he doesn't.

    I don't like him, nope. I still know he has feelings for Danielle, the way he stared at her when she arrived. It was like a lost puppy when it sees his owner, his eyes sparkled and got so big.

   I got jealous, I thought I was the one who made him happy. But no, I'm not, I will never be it.

But then he does these things that make me confused about the way I feel about him. He dumps water all over a boy that called me ugly, and he tells me he likes me. Then he kisses me and gets jealous of Luke.

Luke.

    Oh dear God. The date went perfect. He brought a picnic and we started talking about everything, it was so calm and peaceful. It was so nice, but I honestly don't feel the rush of energy I feel with Liam. It's so different, Luke is peaceful but Liam is so ruff and, just, hot.

He just he makes me feel different. It's like I'm not myself around me. I'm a much better version around him, and he is a better version around me. Sometimes, actually.

We're crazy, we're weird. But we need each other for that.

   "Liam?" I shake him awake. His arms are still around me and my shoulders and his forehead rests on mine. His face looks adorable.

"Babe," I blurt out covering my mouth immediately. Oh Jesus.

"You're so beautiful, ugh." I poke his nose, he's asleep.

"I need to pee, Liam." I shake him again.

He's awake, I know it.

"Don't make me kiss you." I sigh biting my lip. I peck him quickly on his nose and he scrunches it up. His eyes lit up when he sees me.

"Oh hi, are we there yet?" he asks with his sleepy voice.

"Half an hour left," I sigh taking his arms off my shoulders. A pang of guilt falls to my shoulders, Luke's face comes to mind.

"You look pretty." Liam says holding my hand, I take it off quickly. "What's wrong?" he asks with concern. I bite my lip, another pang of guilt hits me.

"I-I, please just don't." I avoid eye contact.

"Don't what? What did I do now?" he asks with his eyebrows furrowed.

"Liam, I just. I'm starting to date Luke and you keep just, you keep being you and you distract me. Please stop, avoid talking to me. If you do, these four months that we still have will go by quickly and we'll never talk to each other again. Simple." My heart hurts. Only four months are left.
